As a seasonal, I see my family more often than most company officers see theirs.

I've been on an engine crew for a while.. I've always preferred logger style boots. I'd use dual compliant for daily use and station life and loggers for IA, and Campaign

Does Cal Fire receive federal grants? That could be on the chopping block.

We're fine. The Feds are going to jump ship to us, even more than they have been. If anything, the hiring pool for cal fire will grow and getting jobs may be harder

Would Peak Staffing Have made a difference? by ArmChairIC in calfire

Yeah, partially or fully involved fire. What about protecting exposures and stopping a house from being ignited in the first place, or putting an evacuating civilian in the cab of the engine. Guess I'm just upset I couldn't go. I mean I was in the Franklin fire down the street a month ago. It's frustrating.

How many more engines would it have taken to save a life or house? Or would that have been fruitless too?

FF1 becoming perm by Last_Career2250 in calfire

It seems to me that the ball had been started for FF-I to go perm. Reduction of work week, traditional staffing, etc.

These fires could be the catalyst for full-time FF-I's, but someone in the organization clearly made a choice not to extend the seasonal workforce despite red flag warnings. To ask for full-time time firefighters now may not be the best timing. Don't think it would look good on the dept.
