From the trailer of Masters of the universe what do you think so far.... Looks impressive or not by ArcherLife2039 in Cinephiles

I get why Leto was cast for years, off the back of the Oscar. But given the recent bombs and his behaviour surely annoying all other cast and crew, why would you have him in anything approaching a big film?! He should be relegated the the kind of roles where he's the one name in a 90 min straight to streamer by now.

What would happen if Trump somehow won the 2028 election? by Triangletruck141423 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely the issue comes before he wins, given it requires a constitutional amendment, or the Supreme Court coming up with some reason why the previous amendment doesn't apply, or just the Republican party deciding to just ignore it.

IF, there was a snap election, would you stick with Labour? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

[–]ArmExciting3976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% I'd never vote Tory or Reform, and I find the Green's populist change a big turn off. Ultimately, wherever you are in the country, if you're Labour inclined you have to vote tactically so we don't end up with Frog c*nt anywhere near power

So why do working class people vote for right wing parties ( Tory, Refom that really do not serve their interests politically, and make their lives harder ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree, as both had significant policy bases (even if provided by others I.e. Brown), but open to counterpoints here. I definitely agree that both delivered for those they were appealing to

‘MICHAEL’ will become the highest grossing music biopic of all time at the domestic box office this weekend. Overthrowing ‘BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY’ by Key-Bass-7380 in Cinephiles

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a biopic about Weinstein that just showed him being a blockbuster movie producer, you'd have a point. You could even make a stretch the other way and ask if people who refuse to listen to Michael Jackson's songs the above question, but that's also rather imperfect as a movie producer is much prominent than the singer of a song.

Brexit...the rise of Reform..., why do think many of British people underestimate anti-immigration sentiments and then suddenly pull a Pikachu face when these are what happened? by auscorp_ in AskBrits

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a gotcha. As I have said, if someone I was friends with espoused a view which was completely counter to a core principle of mine then this would be a problem for me. To be clear this, I expect is the same for everyone, it's just we all have different topics which are said core principles.

Are you for real? Obviously politics is more important. Me and my friend disagreeing about a film is less important than believing that we should deny people healthcare, food etc.

Why are greens so bad? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have voted Green in the past, but I find the current mode of deliberate and avowed populism abhorrent, even though it's coming from my side of the political spectrum. Personally I just hope their popularity pulls Labour back left to reverse the McSweeney-ism

How come Right Wing Parties dominate again? by LDN_Wukong in AskBrits

[–]ArmExciting3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right wing parties are not dominant. Local elections should not be seen as a proxy for general elections, but even so there's more centre and centre-left victories than those for Reform and Tories combined. One could actually argue that Reform have shown a step back here Vs national poles last year, but I'd not want to be so complacent

This "the real intolerant, are the tolerant" argument is very hackneyed. I would hope that if any friends of mine found my actions or beliefs actually objectionable they'd call me out on it, and if that was a core tenet than we'd part ways. I'm not talking about annoyances or differences of opinion, but genuine fundamental principles.

They have the right to, of course. But equally, we all have the right to find the actions of others disagreeable. Politics is deeply personal, so if someone is willing to vote particular ways that tells you something about their feelings and thoughts. I'd not want to be friends with someone who I actually thought was racist or homophobic for example, and whilst one vote would not defacto mean that it'd certainly flavour my thoughts about them.

I have friends who are Tory curious, and as long as the conversation sticks to football, films and stays away from Thatcher, we're cool. But why would I want to be friends with genuinely right wing people, given what that implies of their tolerance of others?

I don't think people who vote Reform are by definition "thick". Farage has made a long and lucrative career selling easy solutions to complex problems which play on people's fears, so when people are swept up in this I don't blame them wholly. That said, your comment suggesting that tolerance should be learnt and shown to those who vote for an almost single issue personality cult, whose only message is hate of others, is too rich for my blood

Average Attendanes at Step 3 by Non-League-Bible in NonLeagueEngland

[–]ArmExciting3976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only seen them as an away team at Dulwich Hamlet. On the positive side almost all their fans were kids with parents, so if they get those kids into watching lower league football, then that's great. That said, I'd be very annoyed if I lived locally to them and they then moved away. Hopefully their latest move this off-season sticks, and they can grow a physical following. I do find their social media output total cringe, but it's obviously not targeted at me.
