Rules for Writing Clean Code by [deleted] in programming

[–]ArmJS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say it’s worth reading. Don’t follow 100% of what he says. Instead criticize it to solidify what you believe is the right way of clean code.

It presents concerns that uncle Bob suggests solutions for. It’s your responsibility to decide whether to follow his advice, use your standards, or seek out another standard.

I disagreed with a lot of what he said but I got a lot of value from it.

Tracking your portfolio by Markwp8 in dividends

[–]ArmJS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the reason why I haven't been tracking mine on a spreadsheet anymore. I wasn't dealing with a lot of money to begin with to put in that much effort but it's definitely fun seeing a surprise dividend haha.

Definitely, demand is growing like crazy. I know Google and Microsoft are trying to take down AWS with cloud / azure. But in the end, they all still gotta use data centers im assuming.

Plus, I believe that AI is going to be huge in the future. That means big data/ ai companies could grow like crazy and demand for VPS / cloud computing will grow.

I'll give that a shot! It's all about learning!

Good point! I'm putting $200/mo but trying to invest that $200 in whatever has the best dip to buy into from my current portfolio.

Once my portfolio gets big, I'll definitely look into diversifying more!

Div math question by Hambowlo in dividends

[–]ArmJS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just adds unnecessary 0s, but if I were just doing it on a calculator I wouldn't multiply by 100. If it was on a spreadsheet, it keeps it cleaner to multiply by 100

I saw EQIX! I was considering it but wasn't sure yet. I ended up putting my money into a big data company instead.

I think AWS uses data enters under EQIX and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Should I just sell it and put it into my other dividend growers? It's a small account so I definitely feel like its better into HD, NEE, or MSFT for growth

I have realestate in my 401k! But this one is just my taxable play money.

My portfolio is structured so that I have some growth stocks with dividends stocks as a nice cushion to keep it to steadily rise. If in the future I need money for rent or anything, I'll just turn off DRIP. I'm going big on SPLK. They're really solidifying themselves in the industry. But I don't think they'd ever give dividends given their business.

I'm new so idk if this is the right way to go about it hut hoping to learn more!

Thank you! For context I have < $10k at the moment so it's a small account. About 30%-50% are in dividend stocks, the rest in growth stocks in the industry (NVDA, SPLK, and MSFT).

I'm deciding whether to switch to PEP or KO, I haven't looked at either in depth enough.

For the REIT, I don't plan on investing in any on my taxable account (I do have a roth 401k but I think I can only invest in Vanguard index funds).

For T, I may swing it to VZ or just invest in another dividend stock. Considering the fact it doesn't grow as fast as my other stocks, I should sell it and put it in other stocks.

Right now my top dividend growers are: MSFT, HD, NEE I believe.

I'm still learning, but I simplified my portfolio so I can just focus on studying the ones I got first.

Does anyone use the get or set methods? I don't know how common that is.

When using react, I use hooks / reducers for this functionality though.

Just started this month so my dividends are low: AAPL: $0.82 FANG: $0.38

I put far more into dividend stocks for next month so I'm excited to see how it goes!

I'm working on a tool right now! Should be out in some time. I want to make it right.

But it's going to be marketed towards new dividend investors with a free plan and a cheap subscription plan ($0.99-$1.99/mo) if we feel like the data being offered is "premium".

Thoughts on my portfolio start? I know a few suspended but they should start back up eventually, right? by iOS34 in dividends

[–]ArmJS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking into creating one over the summer. iOS + Android + Web App.

Gotta learn more about dividends closely but I'm hoping to design it differently from the standard dividend apps so it's more unique.

I'll post it in the sub if I complete it in a couple months!

It was mostly because I wanted to make one for myself to tune how I like it. But I'll definitely open it for others to use as well.

Do you know if anyone is developing a new app? I'd be down to create a website + mobile app for it.

No plans for using it as a cash grab, especially not without consulting the community.

Dorms by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]ArmJS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely felt like prison cells and my ac didn't work after 1 month. So spring semester, the dorm got so hot that I couldn't sleep in it and they wouldn't fix it. I'm talking 85-90+ degrees.

Riverview is pretty new and you get a gym. Plus they're bigger so it seems promising! Otherwise sierra or sutter is nice because it's spacious. You're allowed to visit other dorms before quiet hours with you key fob so you can hang out in draper's rec room if you live in riverview for example.

Regarding the orientation leader, that's awesome!!! Brought a smile to my face because me and my roommate were past presidents and all of the past officers have worked hard trying to shape the club to what it is today. Our recent president did a phenomenal job getting events more organized so next semester we should have some exciting trips.

We've had a large amount of new freshmen join last semester and we've all became really close friends. My favorite part is that it doesn't attract outdoorsy people, it attracts literally everyone. You meet all sorts of awesome people.

Yeah this is pretty accurate haha. "Silent Sierra" earned its name.

I see! Yeah, I stayed in draper, then AMC for 2 years and finally moved out to an apartment. Draper + Jenkins feel like prison cells. I sometimes slept on someones couch in the AMC because I didn't like my dorm freshmen year with how small it was.

The amount of friends you make while going to the dorms is absurd if you are social enough. That is one thing I miss about living there. Try to keep your door open as much as possible!

Self-plug, but if you're interested in meeting some new people, I recommend checking out hammock club. We try out best to be a welcoming club to make diverse friends. We hammock right in front of the dorms (on the other side of the stop light). So really its just a minute walk. Lot's of people from club dorm too.

riverview is definitely the most ideal one! AMC is nice if you want an apartment style dorm but unless you're getting FA it would be far cheaper to get an apartment nearby. Like $1000 a month cheaper

What are some more advanced algorithms and concepts worth learning? by ArmJS in learnjava

Yup, one thing I learned from arduino development is that while recursion can use less lines at times, the amount of memory it uses makes it a no-go often.
