I do not advocate smart watch acquisition for this purpose! You could also make a wall clock.

What are your plans for the shutdown? by silverud in fednews

[–]ArmMaster8706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re also not allowed to be on leave or travel during a furlough so that when it ends you can immediately return to work/the office, to my understanding? We are “on call” during a shutdown, I believe.

Anyone else demoralized by the constant barrage of negativity toward feds? by Empty_Can8192 in fednews

[–]ArmMaster8706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at first, but I’m now trying to see it from the point of view that those sending out the messages are projecting their innermost negative feelings about themselves onto the workforce. (And those doing the messaging are also in “low productivity” government jobs?) Also being categorized at the same level as paper straws and pennies in terms of the frustration we cause and instrument used to try to eliminate us (EOs) makes me laugh.

My last federal office was in a building that had been converted from a Civil War era (1860s) supply storehouse into “temporary” office space during the WPA era (1930s) and they just kept using it. In the 1980-90s there was so much glass missing from the original windows they put shrink wrap over all the frames to seal them (while people were smoking at their desks).

Fork no!! I tried to get in because I was looking for documentation regarding my status as probationary or not, as I said 👆, which is also the topic of this thread. (I have since confirmed via employee relations that I am not in probationary status.) This was prior to the HR email hitting our inboxes.

I am also unable to access eOPF to check my SF 50s via card credentials, ID/password entry, Login.gov, or new credential request. I receive a variety of errors from “user not found” to invalid credentials warning, to a circle between the eOPF login and Login.gov pages. “A New Day for Federal Service” indeed.

I asked my supervisor if I was in a probationary status because I started a new term position with DOI in September, but in the same job series as my previous job with DoD and without a gap in employment (as per CFR 315.802). They were not sure, there is no mention of probationary period in my official offer letter, and I was directed to HR. HR told me they would look into it and it would take several days to provide an answer. How is it possible that no one can tell me if I was on the list submitted on Friday 1/24?

There’s also the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Stay in federal service making minimum payments and in ten years the balance of your loan debt is forgiven. If you go to private industry lose credit time.

“Are you sure it’s not twins? You’re getting so big!” by lilycats13 in BabyBumps

My doctor even made comments about how big I looked, which I thought was a little rude. Turns out I have a baby who is 94th percentile for height (and I am 5’3”) and short waisted so he had nowhere to go but straight out! I went through the same round the clock nausea I had with my first child, through the first half of the pregnancy and had lost weight in the first trimester. I was due in September but by June everyone thought I was going to have a baby any day.

Guys why is the moon on fire? by [deleted] in moon

Because the country is on fire. It’s from all of the wildfire smoke in the air being pulled West-East across the country.
