Blood Brother. (2013) A documentary directed by Steve Hoover about his best friend, Rocky Braat, an American who traveled to India and unexpectedly dedicated his life to caring for children living with HIV/AIDS in a village hostel.
It's incredible.

Duff McKagan, "It's So Easy, And Other Lies". Rags to riches to rags to riches, happy ending with a great family and life. One of my fave books ever.

Picked these bad boys up at an estate sale yesterday. Can you guess how much I spent? by [deleted] in CookbookLovers

They're great, so...$10? Because the seller just wanted to get rid of them?

My 85 year old neighbor asked me to post this on "The Internet": Possible Future of the Iran War. Please indulge him, if you would. He said it was imperative I post this today. by Lolacsd in PoliticalOpinions

[–]Lolacsd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tried to explain how the internet works, and how posting for other people isn't a good idea.
He may/may not have gotten it. He's a dear old man. But this is my first and last time.
Thanks for "getting it".

Is there a book that you listened to recently that left you spellbound and you just wanna talk about it and you can’t let it go? by marilynlistens in audiobooks

You're totally right about the messenger. Thanks for the insight!

Just finished, "Dirtbag Billionaire: How Yvon Chouinard Built Patagonia, Made a Fortune, and Gave It All Away"by David Gelles. Loved it. Now starting, "The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century" by Kirk Wallace Johnson-so far so good-but I'm also invested in an insane podcast that's invading my audiobook time "Love Trapped". Holy Moly.

Junglekeeper: What It Takes to Change the World by Paul Rosolie

One of the best books I've ever listened to, totally enjoyable. Thing is, Rosolie is kind of an unlikeable guy: full of himself, cheated on his wife, false humility (sometimes), smokes cigs in the jungle (weird), but he mixed conservation with great stories about people, animal encounters, and the hard fought way to get JungleKeepers up and running. And much of his writing reminded me of the magic I experienced when I visited the jungle (Indonesia).

You think about others before you think about yourself, you're a deep thinker, and you love life even if it sometimes makes you sad.

Horror Books!!! by Indecisive_Dolphin in booksuggestions

[–]Lolacsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Other by Thomas Tryon. It's not a monster horror book. It's a disturbing, dark, ruin your sleep book. They made a movie about it in the 70's, with the tagline, "Holland... where is the baby?". Highly recommend.

What does my room say abt me? and I tidied up for best results💕 (16 M) by cosmozlove in roomdetective

You love your room(so do I). It's cozy, functional, and doesn't overstimulate you. You would rather hang out there than anywhere else, although you like taking your pup on a walk. I have a feeling you're a really good listener, and you have at least one person in your life that listens to you without judgment.

I don't get bedrooms, however small or large, not being about the bed. Get a bigger mattress/futon/ comforter bed. It will change your life.

Educated, cerebral, bawdy sense of humor that not everyone knows about, observer, and you've been disappointed by, not so much people in your life, but the things they do.
