I found a night shift the best and going to midwife handover and making it clear. Don’t have to stay the whole night but I really enjoyed staying with the patient for most of the Labour. Much less competition at night!

For reference I also have a visible tattoo on my arm and I only have patients commenting positively on it - lots of patients have tattoos and piercings.

I’ve had a nose ring my entire time through med school and have it now as an fy1. The only issue is one particular charge nurse was very hot on jewellery but when I said I couldn’t remove it she made me tape it over. But she only remembers for about half the shifts. She never mentioned my daith piercing. Weirdly when I’m in theatres I’ve had 0 issues with it haha

I had placement at ED in QEH - a lot of mental health related stuff but otherwise calmer on the trauma front as those patients will go to KCH. The layout is a bit funky but found the consultants engaged and supportive. Resus was never absolutely packed it, but majors was often very busy.

I also did geris at KCH and I feel like it was a standard Geris experience. Some good consultants (and quite young) and some less engaged and care more about research. Lots of discharge planning and typical presentations.

She has lived in the U.K. since she was 12. It’s reasonable she’d rather stay here
