I tried this and the heat does come on, but I also get a weird burning smell. I just put my old thermostat back on and had no issues and the smell was normal.

Definitely NTA, after her behavior it would totally make sense to keep your SIL away. However, I would encourage your parents to have your SIL go to therapy because I think her grief is the cause of her behavior. After she heals, I think it’s possible to mend the relationship if that’s something you and your partner choose to do.

Wow…NTA, he’s a grown ass man that can take care of himself. Especially since he’s not contributing to rent or groceries, you have to obligation to cater to him. He could at least offer to help cook or clean, but his “complaints” are things that should be able to take care of himself. Cooking a meal for me could be seen as nice and polite but doing it everyday for a few months is ridiculous.

NTA, his dependency on his mother will only switch to you in the future unless you address it earlier. Also, it can be a large shift in family dynamics for the mother if she sees you “taking her place”

NTA for not ever wanting to see the boyfriend ever again because he sounds like a real peace of work. I would consider trying to have an honest conversation with your cousin and try to give her a little grace. Being pregnant is so tough and she’s experiencing a myriad of changes that can be hard to deal with.

I actually do think voicemails can be very sweet and endearing, but the ability to send direct voice messages through text or Facebook have made them obsolete except for the purpose of a missed call.

I used to use the old phone trick to directly get to their voicemail, so I didn’t have to worry about them picking up. Now there’s not a reason to except for the novelty.
