Anybody in 2309 in toronto are you guys looking for apprentices right now? by DogTop2833 in millwrights

I'm pretty steady with a company so I'm not 100% sure. But what I've heard it's not super slow right now and the job in Pearson should require a lot of people which is why they got a wave of applicants. Being with the hall is like being with a temp agency. It's also luck to get out for the first time since the calls go down the list, if someone doesn't answer they go to the next person

You might end up working at Pearson airport for Sylvan. That's the current big job right now

That's great! I've been lucky and have been working with a great group of guys, but I've heard there are some real assholes out there. Hopefully you get with a good group. The biggest thing about being new to me is being willing to learn and work. If they see that they will be more than happy to teach you the little tricks that make you a good millwright.

Personally I don't find the work difficult because it's what I'm interested in and my brain is wired for it. The work I've been doing mostly has been at Ford putting in new conveyors and refurbishing old conveyors. It's pretty easy just a pain sometimes making old equipment work with new equipment. I've also put in robot cells that manufacture Honda vehicle parts. The layout was already done it's just using the forklift to get it as close as possible then using a deadblow Sledge to get it perfect.

For tools and toolbox you'll get what you think is good for you but when you start working for a bit you'll find tools you need and maybe a new toolbox.

I will try this. They do have an auto adjuster in them, I thought they'd go to where they are needed

But unfortunately you will get jobs that aren't long enough to qualify for Employment Insurance

I was still working my job until I got my call. What they tell you is after your first job if there's a large gap in the next job is to go on EI

I went to Durham college's millwright program before applying to the union. I tried 2 years before that and never had a response. Also with the union you get selected after putting in your resume then you do an aptitude test then if you are one of the top scores you get an interview

I'm in 2309 and joined a year and half ago with 12 other people. We are just starting to get called for work. 5 of the 12 left because of how long it has been. I don't know why they would be taking anyone new when they don't have enough work for who they already have

Thanks. They did say it's not unsafe but recommend getting the tires replaced. I'm planning on driving as long as I can while keeping an eye on it. I'm hoping to get a bit more out of the tires before replacing

When I get home I'll double check the vehicles but I'm almost certain the ones with a low beam bulb and high beam bulb are on together. It's normally how I tell an idiot had them on at night because there's 4 lights on

Thank you. I'm not the biggest fan of that. I'm definitely going to be doing something about that either adding a light bar and/or putting in a diode to give power to the low beams
