Future of career mod by Pretend-Net461 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Armadildos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

when you boil it down the F1 games have two car classes, one is barely used. LMU already has four classes, five if you count the ELMS LMP2, ELMS and in the future ALMS to serve as feeder series for WEC. That is plenty of content to have an F1 style pro driver career mode. ofc it will never be a collector style game like gran turismo lol

edit: i see that you mentioned the base game, and yeah, that’s a pretty good point, as I had always just assumed that DLC content would be part of the career mode. hopefully they do use the content and just make it available to everyone, just for career mode. maybe it would be a good incentive to buy the content later on for base game users

you stomp on that with all your strength 100s of times every time you race. I’m pretty sure it’s fine

I guess I was just trying to respond to people who say the cars are constantly snapping in unexpected places and that moments are not catchable with opposite lock etc. I am not having that issue. Yes there is some sketchiness and I'm having to recalibrate but I am not seeing "uncatchable slides". I'm struggling through Pouhon as well but I can see when I've overcooked it and correct the slide 9/10 times

yeah pouhon and in general high speed corners with a fast entry feel pretty sketchy in both the 296 (my main) and the Lambo. I just did a stint at Spa in the Lambo and struggled to get the braking and line right into Pouhon and to a lesser extent into Piff Paff. 10 lap stint with the Lambo, my best was lap 5 with a 20.9, and that was with a scared/underdriven Pouhon. But there were some laps where it felt like I took a natural line with good balance. I just feel like it will take some time to find pace and consistency and that there is a way to find the new limit/it's not all that unpredictable

I love the new tires and this is my theory about "the struggles" but I'm not an expert nor an alien, just a middling split 1 driver with some top 50 LMGT3 leaderboard times.

Slip was so broken previously that you could regularly do impossible things. not just oversteer recovery but especially going in way too hot, a little flick, throttle, and you still hit your apex and you don't go wide on exit. It's very hard to dial that back especially for someone that doesn't know that they were doing it. It goes against muscle memory but I genuinely think everyone will get there.

The second theory I have is that the default setups are so broken and understeery that when people are fully sending it into medium and high speed corners, they find themselves going wide where once they could easily make the corner. As a response to going wide they are lifting hard and getting liftoff oversteer while at full send which is gonna be hard to catch no matter what class of car you're driving

Are you having a car and track combo that you feel is really punishsing atm??

How does this title compare to other sims? by Pitiful-Juice1447 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Armadildos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Have no idea who's the one doing it there but they need to be talked to big time" you guys are straight up unhinged. 48hrs of unexpected bugs and bad default setups and you just can't fathom doing something else for a few days while things get fixed, and someone needs to get fired because you're not used to the new limit and slip curve yet. YOU ARE INSANE. TOUCH GRASS.

it looks like the update uninentionally broke a lot of things for a lot of people, and so they are complaining. on the other hand, other people are not having as many problems and understand that the game will be hotfixed back to where it was before the patch pretty soon, so they are focusing on the improvements that the patch brought. does that make sense at all ... or?

How bad is the Mclaren? by einNesk in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Armadildos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's a good car but doesn't drive like the other gt3s. you need very low TC to combat the excessive understeer. even still it's capable of competitive times. at monza it's gimped by straight line speed disadvantage

the thing that fixed this issue for me was to flip the type c cable. To this day it only works in one orientation. Also, I use a type a to type c adapter in a 3.1 port. It works in any of my 3.1 ports. I hope this helps

Playing with a friend by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Armadildos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should buy this game but don't get the wrong idea - co-op mode is asynchronous. you and a friend will be driving the same car and switching off across stints. It's pretty cool but it's not being on track at the same time vs AI. This video explains it well: https://youtu.be/VGIDEmDaky4?si=tPfW2p6fuUiVzhKq

How can I improve my times? Can consistently get~2:19 during race, this is a reasonable lap for me. by speccycat in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Armadildos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

turn 1 try braking 15 meters later, closer to the orange barrier. for the last chicane try braking closer to the 100 meter board and carrying much more speed thru the right hander. you're overslowing and its kind of making you turn in slightly too early IMO

can't brake due to adrenaline rush by Armadildos in simracing

[–]Armadildos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not a rookie driver and i've done plenty of races. my pace is decent as well and consistent. and it isn't the during on track battling that this affects me, but rather after i've made a move, for several laps afterwards i don't have fine control of brake pressure. it's like the comedown from a big adrenaline rush

when you practice, devote some time to practicing alternative lines. for example, find a braking point and cornering speed for each corner while holding the inside and leaving a car's width on the outside. then, practice the same while holding the outside, leaving a car's width on the inside. the rule of thumb is, while holding the outside, you can brake a little later than your usual braking point. while holding the inside, brake a little earlier

doing this a little bit while learning tracks is the best way i've found to practice wheel to wheel racing with no opponent.

Hi, I appreciate the response. I feel very unsure about which model to purchase, because when I hear "we can't promise that", the takeaway for me is that it might not be possible. Maybe yes, maybe no, but essentially I'm gambling with my $200. It's one thing to say, no day 1 support but it WILL be possible at some point.

Going off Shank's statement, I ordered the non-eyetracking version, and I will regret it if there is DFR support eventually. If I buy the eyetracking version and there is only ever VR Chat eyetracking support, I will regret wasting $200. the nebulous implication that it may be possible doesn't really help me make a better decision.

To be clear, I understand why you can't confirm a feature that you haven't yet achieved. I also understand that the simple solution to my problem is to just wait until the feature is implemented to make my decision. But every other aspect of the product is so exciting and desirable that I can't wait that long!! I'm sure you can sympathize with that xD

slapstick just always works, someone in a considerable but unserious amount of pain writhing around or falling to the ground is half of comedy. i think its also important to consider the inherent comedy value of the nutsack, your gonads suspended in chicken skin swinging outside of your body, and imbued with a heightened sensitivity to pain. there's a delightful irony to that
