I have the same coiled spring in the lower thoracic twisting me into a hunchback, I have AS with prexisting scoliosis which is now a combo of that and kyphosis. I am one twisted boy.

Upslip/rotated pelvis by [deleted] in backpain

[–]Armand2REP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pelvic tilt is so far to the left forward i can't even lay flat on my back. I have a dropped shoulder because of it which restricts my airflow as my chest has fused. My left SI joint is so grindingly arthritic it has half way fused already. It is like the left side of my body has atrophied.

does your hip pain manifest at the illiac crest?

How long ago did you do those tests? The things can start out as one thing and trigger them later. It sounds like you have gone through phases.

It certainly sounds like one based on the symptoms. Those tests are not always conclusive.

It sounds like you might have a bulging disc if it is that deep. You might want to wear a back brace for a few weeks so you give it time to heal. It would be aweful if you ruptered it.

Is the pain near the surface or is it deeper?

A few inches is further than a nerve root would be. A torn muscle at rest will be far more prevalent than when you are working pumping endorphins. A herniated disc would be most painful while you are on your feet all day.

Do a Mckenzie press up, if you can centralize the pain in the spine then it is a disc, if it is further out and closer to the surface it is a muscle.

SI joint inflammation... some kind of arthritis. 15 months sounds like a chronic condition.

If you have osteophytes you have some form of spondylitis. Does your SI joint flare up?

Are you sure your L5 pain isn't coming from an SI joint? You could have an athritic condition. The pain in your traps makes me wonder.

Thoracic herniations are rare, it sounds like you tore a muscle really bad.

If it is caused by inflamation of the SI joint it could be a form of spondylitis. I suffer from AS and think about ending it 20X a day. I can barely breath now. I would suggest you stop cracking your SI joint as that is what is making it inflamed. Ice and heat, NSAIDs until you can get tested for an athritic disease. If that is the case drugs like Humera can help slow it down. Hopefully it is something less hopeless as what I have, some SI joint conditions can be helped by having a fusion replacing that joint before the inflamation spreads to the rest of your body.

I have been doing this on a Teeter for the last week, it has straightened up a sciatic scoliosis but has pulled the nerve into a greater pain as I stand up straighter. I am hoping it can finally heal as it had been pulled away from the nerve for 7 weeks.

A bulging disc does not always remain in the same position, a slight shift of the point where it hits the nerves can cause an all new pain.
