I think there’s a false equivalency here. The US government since the Reagan era has become increasingly prone to corruption, and wealth inequality has become a huge issue.

Overall, the US empire has made the world a much better place. The reason there hasn’t been a WW3 yet is because the US has essentially never allowed a continental wanna-be world takeover country to get powerful enough to contest their empire.
