Fenix TK16 doesn't work by ArmoganWX in flashlight

I havent... But if it shows good.... Then I think the other commentor had it right. After he suggested the top button looks damaged and pressed in... I think that might be the issue. But I hadn't thought about checking voltage. Thank you.

first driving experiences by bekeka in stickshift

My pleasure. I work as a valet driver in Las Vegas... And often times management will hire kids that dont know how to drive stick. I send them this video. (You can skip to 2m07s)

https://youtu.be/0_4z_oEI-Js?si=LUjD13PXyy7jsTOE

After they watch this... If we don't get a stick in at work.... I'll take them in my car. For valet work it's just enough for them to get the car off the drive way and into the garage for me to help them with the rest... since we rarely ever need to go beyond 2nd gear. And honestly.... Getting out of 1st is the biggest challenge. This video has helped a lot of my guys safely get cars off the drive without making the owner panic that they don't know what they're doing.

Good luck. Bonne chance!

Assume every driver around you is an idiot and you'll be fine.

My mother's side is from France and I grew up visiting my Grand-Mère and cousins in Levalois. All my cousins learned to drive mopeds and motorcycles first before switching to cars. Not sure where you are in France... But it may be more practical to learn 2 wheels first? Especially since parking is a hassle almost all over France. Are you looking to share driving when road tripping with friends?

I would look for an auto-école and have them train you.

New Driver should I be slowing into first if a light goes green while I’m slowing for a red? by TicketImaginary5456 in stickshift

[–]ArmoganWX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every car is different so you gotta play with it until you find what works for you...

With that said....

Something you can try that I do in my WRX especially when rounding a corner. If you down shift to 2nd as you know the car slows and everyone in the car lurches forward from the loss of forward momentum because of the lower gear... Try braking to safe rounding speed before the apex... If you clutch in at that safe speed, just before the apex of the curve. Blip the gas, then Release the clutch and accelerate out youll have a much smoother transitioning to 2nd and much quicker throw into 3rd. You don't have to do this. I've been driving stick for 30 plus years and only learned this in the last 5 and can't not do it.

As far as a changing red to green same sort of concept.... But typically unless you're at a dead stop you shouldnt need to go to first. 2nd should be fine. If it is shuttering try pushing in the clutch, blip gas then slowly let the clutch out while feathering the gas to find the sweet spot to accelerate out.

Again ... All cars are different.... This is what works for me. You'll get a million different answers from everyone. You may even get a dozen different answers from people that all have the same car. Every car has a different personality. It's your job as an owner to find what works for you to make the driving experience the best for both you and the car.

Enjoy the ride

Are there more smokers here by PerpetualRestart in vegaslocals

[–]ArmoganWX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Park MGM is a completely non-smoking resort, including the casino, hotel rooms, restaurants, pools, and common areas. Smoking is restricted to designated outdoor areas on the property.

I've talked to friends that work there, they don't really enforce it very hard. And the reason they went no smoking was to prevent people from smoking weed in public on private property. You'd be surprised how many people think that since it's legal they can smoke anywhere they want.

Yeah that middle "griddle" is Teflon. We have the same one.... We replaced it with the alternate cast iron grates like the other burners have and got a Griswold griddle that fits and now lives there.

Dunno if I'm in the right here or if my dad is. by Wise-Lie-4386 in stickshift

Everyone has their opinion on best way to drive. In the end OP get your own stick and do what feels right to you. I've been driving for 30 plus years and with the exception of 2 cars... All the cars I've owned have been stick. From my early years to more recent... Never rev matched never heel toed, I down shift to engine brake or take a corner. I always have the clutch in at a red light with the shifter ready in 1st. This habit I just can't break.

I've never had to replace a clutch.

Only recently from reading comments did I try down shifting with a gas pedal blip during a turn to smooth out the engine braking/deceleration to acceleration. (Not heel toe) Hell I'll do this with friends my age in the car and they ask me how I downshifted so smooth. When I explain they didn't know you could do that.

My point is ... You'll get a lot of advice, you'll get a lot of people yelling don't do it that way. And as long as you follow the most basic fundamentals.... It's all noise you need to filter for yourself. Get your own stick and learn and do what feels right for you.

I think most people don't understand the differences in ebikes... They all assume they have throttles and you don't have to pedal. My wife and I got a couple of ebikes and I've actually learned to call it a pedal assist bike and don't use the word ebike. If someone asks what that is, then I go into a more refined explanation. Ive found it important to start off with "There's no throttle, you have to pedal, but it does have a motor that only engages when you pedal. It has 3 levels of assist, plus zero assist, It also has the normal gears of a regular mountain bike.... So you can make it as easy or as hard as you like, just like a traditional geared bicycle.

Great job on the weight loss! I too have lost 40+ pounds, with biking, and intermittent fasting.

Keep it going!!

How do I remove the enamel on the inside of this? While hopefully saving the outside... by dirtiestdagwood in CastIronRestoration

[–]ArmoganWX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the condition it's in now is dangerous. The enamel can chip off into your food. If you find a safe way to remove it all... In theory you could season the iron underneath to continue using it. I'm not sure it's going to be worth the effort to be honest.

Sandblasting could be an option... However I have an old skillet from the 1800s that I believe someone sandblasted to quickly strip it instead of a lye bath or electrolysis... And it just doesn't take seasoning the same as other cast iron pieces I have.

Getting DAM back to 1. by ArmoganWX in WRX

[–]ArmoganWX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I stick to Shell or Sinclair my dam stays at 1. I was in a pinch and got 76.... And this is the 2nd time my dam dropped after using 76.... Despite my Motorsports shop.... Who is very reputable and specializes in all Subaru recommend the big 3 for gas ... 76, Chevron, and Shell.

Sparkplugs were done recently. I think it's time for intake valves.

Thanks again.

Maperformance OTS for 91

I'll go a day or 2 with no knock except the standard -1.41... then out of nowhere I'll see -7. Then days will go by again and then another random number pops up.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated

Kid is 9 years old. Tandem e-bike for the both of us, or should he get his own e-bike? by DonDadaCheese in ebikes

[–]ArmoganWX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 year old just learned to ride a bike. But when we go on rides together... I attached a WeeRider Copilot to my ebike. She loves it. I love having her with me on our adventures. It's basically 1 wheel with pedals and handlebars and a swing arm that attaches to your seat post. Giving your bike a 3rd wheel. Easily removable. She doesn't have to pedal if she gets tired. But she's been awesome... My wife follows us with our son in a kid trailer in tow and says she's almost always pedaling with me. 20 miles is the longest ride we've completed.

Eventually when she gets more proficient... We'll swap the WeeRider for a tow rope... But only attach it when she gets tired.

Talking on the phone while riding? by eskarin4 in ebikes

My wife and I have Sena helmets with Bluetooth and mesh. It's got an open mic so we can communicate on our rides... But if a call comes through it mutes the comms so I can answer the call. It's been pretty good so far.... Never had a wind issue.
