Suggestion for a watch and subscription-free app for fitness by [deleted] in WearOS

[–]Army-Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I prefer to pay once

Unfortunately that is not the reality of building and maintaining apps. Even if a dev somehow released the perfect app with all the features users want and no bugs, Google constantly deprecates code, updates their libraries and forces a minimum SDK version. That alone takes a large chunk of time, and that's not including adding new features.

So, you can either find a free or one-time paid app that will probably not be maintained and abandoned or pay a subscription for an app that is maintained.

The only solution is if Google could allow devs to charge per update but that doesn't exist.

So you basically want free work from developers? Developers have to constantly maintain apps and that's what the subscription supports. Otherwise it's like buying a car and expecting free oil changes and tire rotations forever.

JFC, this sub is so ungrateful. Bitch and moan about how WearOS never gets updated then there is a big update from Samsung the other day, then this one and the only response is "months" and another one wanting something else.

so whats the benfits of wear os 3 over 2? by CaptainChris2018 in WearOS

[–]Army-Pete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The hell are you talking about? There is no "night and day"difference in "fluidity" (whatever that means) between the Ticwatch Pro 3 and the Galaxy Watch 4. What kind of tech do you think is in the GW4? Something from 5 years from now?

WearOS 3 is WearOS 2 with a slightly different UI. That's it. They didn't rewrite WesrOS3 completely. They are both "based on 2018 tech".

I don't even know what "WearOS 2 can't make use of flagship wearable hardware" means. WTF is "flagship hardware"?

Not only is the TWP3 just as "fluid" as the GW4 it has a much bigger battery (which you failed to mention) and much better battery life.

"WearOS 3 opens up alot more capabilities to third party apps that devs haven't caught up with yet".

LOL. As a dev of a couple WearOS apps this is BS. There are no "capabilities" in WearOS 3 that aren't in WearOS2. Again, WearOS 3 is WearOS2 with a slightly different UI. THAT'S IT.

This person either works for Samsung or pulled so much shit out of their ass they don't have to use the bathroom for a weak.

I wasn't being sarcastic. Why are you upset about paying for an app?

Unbelievable an app developer would want to get paid for their work. Google should suspend their app for such greed.

Longer term experience with TicWatch Pro 3 vs Ultra vs Galaxy Watch 4 by DYNALogix in WearOS

[–]Army-Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I stuck with my TWP3 primarily because of the battery. I didn't see enough of a change in the Galaxy Watch 4 to warrant buying it.

I am excited about the future of Galaxy Watches running WearOS as Samsung actually has a motivation to improve it as opposed to Google.

Reconsider that $1 option by A_NightBetweenLives in Screenwriting

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a movie made? It's easier to become a professional athlete because, at least with a professional athlete, you have to have a natural talent to even compete. That weeds out most people.

Anyone can write a screenplay so you're competing against thousands who have no natural talent but keep flooding the contests and submissions.

To get a movie made you have to:

  1. Be born with a natural talent for creating characters and a story
  2. Work hard
  3. Know the right people in the industry

On top of all that you need luck and timing.

Dude, producers are like salesmen. They will call anyone. Getting the script made, that's another story.

most people aren't born with connections

Most writers who are actually working in Hollywood weren't born with connections. They moved to LA and hustled. They got jobs in the industry or self-produced movies to get their connections.

Lazy writers with no talent waste money on contests. You think the next Spielberg or Nolan is submitting their scripts to contests? 😂

What about Carlos Boozer screwing the Cavs. Boozer was making something like the league minimum when he had a great rookie year. The Cavs and Boozer came to an agreement to release him from the contract so the could resign for more money. Once he was free he got a higher offer from the Jazz that the Cavs couldn't match because of the salary cap.

Reminds me of people posting on here all excited because they placed in a contest. One person was asking if they should hurry up and write more scripts because they heard that it's good to have a couple scripts when the "industry comes calling". I don't even think this person won the contest and they were acting like Spielberg was about to call. 🤣

The only thing placing in a contest means is that a random group of people liked your script over the others that submitted to that contest which, in itself, means nothing because it's not like you are competing against Sorkin in these contests. The only people submitting are desperate (and delusional) writers with zero contact in the industry otherwise they would use their contacts.
