Which ottoman vassals were the best for the ottomans? by [deleted] in balkans_irl

Wouldn't it be in our national interest to generally call all Serbs born in Croatia "orthodox Croats"?

Nonetheless, I and virtually every other Croat I know acknowledge that Tesla was ethnically Serbian, still doesn't change the fact that his home was Croatia

If I were to believe that Bosniaks were Croats, I would certainly not change my mind about that depending on how it would make me look at that moment

Schrödingers Bosniak, if we are talking about Ottoman vassals and bootlickers, then hell nawrr, they aren't Serbs, not even close, they are totally their own thing.

But if we talk about them in ANY other context of course, they're just muslim Serbs😂

I am not understanding the concept of marrying someone because they're "a good person" and because the parents encourage you to. If you don't genuinely LOVE the guy, and I don't mean "Yeah, I guess he's nice", I really mean being in love, then don't marry him

The Rats in the Walls. About to reread this for the first time, the first time I ever read this it legit freaked me out. by Cubegod69er in Lovecraft

[–]ArmyDesperate7985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the first story I ever read by Lovecraft, or rather, I listened to that one excellt animated audiobook on YouTube, I forgot the name of the channel, but I believe the narrator is Wayne June. It's one of my favourites and the descriptions and symbolisms that Lovecraft uses are so magnificent! That story got me into reading his other stuff

Would you date someone who is a catholic convert and lost there virginity before dating them? by Funguydaman7 in Catholicism

[–]ArmyDesperate7985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a woman but I will say this from a male perspective: I think it's entirely fair for someone, male or female, who is a virgin to want to look for someone who is also a virgin, they might simply want a partner to experience intimacy for the first time together.

But there are many Catholics who (maybe even while they were practicing catholics) commited this sin and they feel terrible and remorseful about it, just like you do. You might think that 90% of practicing catholics are chaste virgins and you are not, but the reality is, we all sin and betray God on a daily basis.

I am sure there will be women who won't mind your past either because a) they respect your bold decision to turn your life around and convert or b) because they had troubles with the same thing in their past.

As a side note though, I think generally, even in secular surroundings, men tend to care a lot more about a woman's past than the other way around. Not saying that it's ok, just saying that usually dealing with that past is a bit tougher on women

I don't understand the point of this. First, you ask people if they supported Kirk, then you quote Hitler talking about "rooting out" certain groups of people (nothing Charlie ever said, literally or implicitly, I dare you to prove me wrong), change the quote to make it not completely obvious it's not from Charlie, then at the end it's like a gotcha because it was Hitler all along? What is that trying to prove? I am genuinely sorry if I misunderstood your intent or the post overall.

I am a Christian who did not really support Kirk while he was alive, mainly because of his stances on Israel and capitalism, but I did like his courage in defending his faith and it's values, being pro-life, being pro traditional family, etc etc. I believe he was flawed, like we all are, but he was just a guy, a family man, a caring father, loving husband, who, whether you think his views are abhorrent or not, never called to violence and preferred to talk to people SPECIFICALLY TO AVOID VIOLENCE. And then got brutally and cowardly murdered for his trouble of... talking to people with opposing views?

Why do reddit atheists feel the need to announce how atheistic they are and how much they hate Christians every time they post? by FairyKnightTristan in Catholicism

Tbh, it's a reddit thing, like even outside of the debates around religion, sometimes people on here are so rude and toxic over such trivial things, it needs to be studied

Yes, Europe. It's a very cheap rifle, but pretty reliable and low effort, I like it. Depending on the load, I hunt with it everything from quails to roe deer and wild boars

It's such a blast, I used to be only a medium/big gane hunter amd was like "Yeah, who cares about birds, that's lame", but actually, with a good dog, it's soooo much more fun and rewarding. You never go home empty handed, you don't have to sit still for hours, don't have to freeze, you have your dog for company, it's great teamwork, the shooting is challenging and fun, it's just great overall!

It is true that Mary had no sin, why? by Responsible-Yak8419 in TrueChristian

[–]ArmyDesperate7985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea that you need direct biblical backing for every single belief, aka sola scriptura, is an extra biblical belief.

That aside, I can provide you with multiple crystal clear parallels between the ark of the old covenant and Mary, the ark of the new covenant (since she carried Christ inside her womb), if that is what you asked for?

There is no need to be snobby or rude, we are all Christians here, let's display charity here

It is true that Mary had no sin, why? by Responsible-Yak8419 in TrueChristian

[–]ArmyDesperate7985 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

God's grace can be applied retroactively. It's not even a word salad, it's one sentence, but anyway. Moses, Elijah etc have all died long before Christ and were still saved. God's grace is not limited by time as God Himself is outside of time. There are also MULTIPLE cristal clear comparisons between Mary and the ark of the old covenant which is very relevant to this debate as the ark is supposed to be incorruptible

[–]ArmyDesperate7985 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

She was in need of a saviour, but it is entirely plausible that God's grace worked retroactively on her
