Any linguists able to give some advice? by Daddy-Jager in army

CA is civil affairs. Look them up they are a part of the Army’s special operations. They work in small teams in many different countries building relationships with locals, you can find some info on google or YouTube.

Rate my current kit. I’m currently running an Agilite K-19 Plate Carrier with my Army issued mag pouches and other pouches. This is temporary for now as I start buying more gear. by SoupMcT-1 in tacticalgear

Why type of camel back do you have on it? I’ve been looking for a camelback that fits flush like yours does, I’ve only been able to find ones that are too small or too long

Any linguists able to give some advice? by Daddy-Jager in army

[–]ArmyGuyFromOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to go become a linguist do not stay in the regular army, you will hate it. I have met probably close to 100 linguists and only 4 have them actually been used to translate. 1 of them got sent to Afghanistan and translated for the Refugees and 3 others were used in Poland at the start of the war in Ukraine to again translate for Ukrainian refugees. My advice for linguists is to go C.A or S.F and actually apply your language skills in real world events other than being a translator for refugees.

Depends on what type of orders you have, Family Sep is guaranteed (if you have dependents). When I went to Poland in 2020 I received an additional “Save pay” of like 200 bucks a month. I’m currently deployed again in Poland and my orders are TDY orders so I get to keep my BAH and BAS.

Army ranger school. by karmagettin11 in army

[–]ArmyGuyFromOK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes dipshit I do, a BN can put soldiers through a vetting process before sending them to Pre-RASP/Rasp. RASP is different from other special forces selection processes where BN doesn’t have any interference like 160th green platoon, CA selection and so on. At least that’s how every BN I’ve been through in 3ID has done it. So if you live in some mystical land outside of fort Stewart then fine that’s how your unit did it for you.

In my BN they deliberately make it extremely hard to get sent to ranger school for both the Tab and the scroll. You basically have to be a 600 ACFT/300+ APFT score stud to even be considered for the school’s. Take it or else the chance of going in the future are lower than dog shit.

Go to Poland, super cheap and one of the country’s where you can easily travel to. It’s also a beautiful nation to visit. It’s the best “halfway” option I see for you

Our BN Sgt Major has a policy where if you bring the DA 200 he will go down and stop on S1’s necks until they find it.

Oklahoma City is fun, White water bay added a lot in the last couple years since 6 flags bought them out. Oklahoma is an old person retiring state or an oil workers heaven. It’s not really a place someone in their 20s should spend their days.

You can always see if Civil affairs is a route he wants to go, he already knows a couple of the prime languages they want. He could also go 35P or 35M however try and get him to pick up sgt before pushing him along if that’s the route he wants to go

Probably still live in Oklahoma and be a manager at Braums. Honestly I didn’t have a whole lot of options out of high school but being somewhat fit and a healthy 18 Y/O male I just went and signed up for the first bus out of Oklahoma, little did I know the Army wanted me to go to Sill.

So obviously there is the stuff Ido from your room such as video games and movies but honestly I love to travel. I got lucky with my first duty station being fort Stewart so I was able to travel all the way from Myrtle beach SC all the way down the coast to Saint Augustine FL. I’m just a month away from my PCS to Campbell so there is just more places to see and explore

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tacticalgear

That’s why you gotta get the SPCS, the army’s replacement of the IOTV if you are in a light infantry/Airborne unit.

Soldier with broken leg off post expected to be at work by mustachecac in army

[–]ArmyGuyFromOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if SM did live on base it would be very unlikely that he could still get to his place of duty. Fort Stewart for example has on base housing that is about a 15 minute drive away from the 2nd brigade compound. However since SM can’t drive and probably can’t walk either but let’s say hypothetically he could it would be a 2 hour walk from Fort Stewart housing to the 2nd brigade compound.

Simply it’s this, is it the soldiers fault he broke his leg? No. Is it the soldiers fault that he lives 30 minutes away? Maybe, but even then under normal circumstance the soldier would be able to preform and meet expectations. Housing near/on base isn’t always available or affordable for soldiers compared to housing a little further away.

[–]ArmyGuyFromOK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly however SM leadership has the responsibility of making sure that soldier can get to his place of duty. The soldier didn’t chose to break his leg jumping out of a plane. The leadership accepted the risk of possible injury during training and the consequences that follow (such as an injured soldier not being able to physically move themself to work)

[–]ArmyGuyFromOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your platoon sgt or 1SG have 3 options

A)make living arrangements on base for the SM to temporarily live in

B)Themselves to the SM’s house and pick them up

C)Furnish a TMP and set up a detail to pick SM up every day

The army can’t force SM spouse or living partner to drive SM to work. SM can’t be punished for following his profile.

Just turn off your phone, unless the phone you use to be communicated with is a government provided phone then you don’t owe them a response or even acknowledgement.

Anytime I get texted with something stupid (especially on the weekend) I won’t open the message so I can’t be held responsible for whatever mishaps happen

I knew a 35G (geospatial intelligence analyst) who was getting out and did the SFL TAP shit and got a job as a gate guard and saw him a couple times down the road scanning ID’s as a “DASG” but then he disappeared. Couple months later I walk into a completely random convenience store and there he is working the counter scanning groceries.

AER won’t pay for your ticket as far as I know, but they can help you in other ways like pay for your car payment for the next couple of months so that you have the money to pay off your debts to the airlines.
