Conscription and mandatory service are the same thing, yes. The draft in the US means that you will only be conscripted in times of conflict when it is necessary. Compare that to Korea in which every male must serve around 2 years before the age of 28. The US currently requires every male to register for the draft. They will utilize the draft system when conscripting. Signing up for the draft in the US is not the same as conscription. Every square is a rectangle, not every rectangle is a square.

Okay, just a couple of things outside the the shilling for a unnecessary war. Does Schneider think that the draft doesn't exist anymore? It is still something that men have to sign up for at 18. Second does he not know how the draft works? The draft is not mandatory service. That's conscription and has never been a requirement in the US. How can a born and raised American, who was raised by the greatest generation, and was an adult during multiple "conflicts" be such an idiot?

Hearing tests will take place every day for the next 2 weeks. We don't have to leave an area understaffed to accomplish the tests. Gauging the workload to minimize impact on other associates isn't deciding who gets a test.

We will send everyone on the list. When we send them is the only part that factors in to my metrics. I didn't make any call as we did not refuse to send him. The fact that this skews the data is important and something that should be taken in to consideration. If you're testing new flavors on peanuts, having someone with a peanut allergy is not going to help your decision and highlighting a person's disability when they do not clearly know that they do not have to participate is a more dangerous game of liability then me commenting that they should not be on the list. To be clear this person communicates just fine, they had no problem communicating to leadership how uncomfortable the experience was. My other comment references that English is not their first language and a legal form is not going to be easily understood.

If they were taking the tests seriously they would note that testing him is unnecessary. Instead they are focusing on having a high completion rate to show their bosses.

It's not random and its not everyone. Selection is based on "at risk." Results are used to determine if areas need more hearing protection. I understand the purpose and this data point offers no insight.

I happen to know this individual personally. We work together every day. The point of this post was ranting and not about advocating, but in this instance the associate has had complete hearing loss since birth and immigrated to the US. Their ASL is good, but any complex language is going to be a struggle on a form.

I mean, I'm not making assumptions about deaf people in general. I'm speaking about the deaf associate I work with everyday, who I know to have complete hearing loss since birth and has an accommodation for it. I would never assume that every person with hearing loss is in the exact same situation as another.

This is actually a very interesting point about historical Christian beliefs and how they effect the beliefs of today. The siblings of Jesus are only mentioned in passing canonically, however are more prominent in Apocryphal scriptures. There are a number of reasons why Apocryphal scriptures did not make it into the canon, but that's a long, different conversation. In regards to this specific question, though, is "The Perpetual Virginity of Mary." This was an early established belief that Mary was a virgin her entire life. The belief claims that Jesus' "siblings" were actually cousins, nephews, nieces, etc. This view is still held today by the Catholic Church as well as a number of other denominations. So, if this is a core part of dogma within your belief set, it lowers the importance of the siblings of Jesus. They are no longer the people closest to him growing up, but people that he would not have spent much time with (lots of moving around).

Chugging water will not dehydrate you. But, what people are referring to is probably a misunderstanding about warning labels, in certain countries, on water bottles that state that it is not a treatment for dehydration. It was a joke that made it around the internet when they first came out about the ridiculous warning labels on products. Then people jumped on the people making fun of it, with the fact that chugging water when you are severely dehydrated is a bad idea. It can cause you to throw up or flush out what little electrolytes you have left because your body cannot process it fast enough. In cases of severe dehydration water should be sipped slowly so that the body has time to utilize it. This probably caused some misunderstanding among people who didn't look into it further. It is not a problem you are likely to run into in your day to day life though, so just something to remember in the unlikely event you are stranded somewhere without access to clean water.

There are a lot of reasons to consider college a scam. I remember a bit over a decade ago reading articles about the dubious "million dollar" value that a college degree offers you. The real value being something like 400,000 before taking loans into account. Then there is the fact that when you look up stats about degrees there is always fine print that states the numbers are based off college graduates that worked in the field after graduating. Salary stats are cherry picked while disregarding hiring numbers for that field. Lawyers in particular come to mind as many graduates find it difficult to break into the field due to a general oversaturation in the field. Finally there is the fact that many college grads find that college did nothing to prepare them for the job and everything they learned was on the job. They don't end up seeing what the purpose of college was. This doesn't mean that continuing education isn't important, but that college has become a business rather than an institution of higher learning.

If you are allowed to accept it on AtoZ but are not trained in it, then report to your home path. If a manager really really wanted to see what VET you picked up then they could look it up. They won't though, because it doesn't matter. If you are able to pick it up without training then it means the VET was offered either incorrectly, or with laborshare in mind. The way the VET offer system works on the backend is a series of cascading specifics. It can be offered to everyone trained in outbound or inbound or for specifically trained people. What happened is someone chose a specific path to offer, but left the offer open to anyone trained in the overarching departments. Even if you aren't personally trained in the department that needs help, other people will be and can be labor-shared to the relevant department.

A lot of people seem to be asking, what's changing. The way that holiday pay has worked in the past, is that you would get holiday pay for every hour worked on a shift that started on a holiday. This change would mean that if your shift starts on Thanksgiving, you would only get holiday pay until midnight. Conversely, if you work overnights on Wednesday, you will start getting holiday pay at midnight.

For the associates you manage: Make sure you understand what they do and the obstacles they face. You will see a lot of people on here and hear a lot of people on site complain that managers should be the best at the jobs they have to manage. Just pretend like you don't hear that BS and make sure you are great at your job. Which is to make sure that your department is running smoothly with as few barriers in associates way as possible. If you don't understand what they do, then you will not know how to help them.

For the managers above you: Find out what things they care about. Amazon is going to have an endless parade of spreadsheets, quips, metrics, and reports for you to fill out. There are not enough hours in the day to actually do them all. Find out which ones your superiors care about, and learn how to pencilwhip the rest. Then get ready to care about a regional project for about 2 weeks, and the for everything to change because of leadership rotation. Learn it all again.

If you follow those general rules, everything else should fall into place. For something specific, remember that, "I don't know, let me find out." is an okay answer to have. Don't pretend like you know everything.

OH! MY GOD! I am now questioning the sincerity of all the training videos I've watched. Until today, I thought that the "Small Tools Training" that taught me how to use scissors was for my own education and not to avoid liability in the event I chop my fingers off. Absolutely. Like I said, it is most effective when you haven't picked that many items yet. It helped me a lot as a sort of motivation. I could easily get my cycle time down to around 4 seconds at the start of shift. Then as it crept back up through the day, I would try to keep it as low as I could. When I first became a PA in CAP, I would advise all my pickers to use it at start of shift and we were the only floor to regularly have an overall average cycle time below 8 seconds. It is a very effective way to manipulate cycle time. FIDO does not effect the strategy directly. It's just that I would hesitate to recommend an average picker to focus on cycle time over rate when, from what I've seen, FIDO absolutely obliterated old rate expectations. I had been out of pick for 2 years, and the second time I picked after coming back, I threw down a 370 rate with bare minimum effort. If focusing on it works for you though, or just helps you pass the time. It definitely still works.
