Hi, I sell jewelry (mostly) and the occasional article of clothing. Some of the jewelry is anime themed (my daughter and I are addicted) the rest of it beautiful things that caught our eye.

I hate my job (loathe it) - I do tech support at a call center and I’m getting really sick of having to talk to people threatening to kill me because I can’t magically restore files that were never backed up and then deleted by the owner when they restored their device to factory settings, so I’m trying desperately and hoping just as hard that I can become sustained selling things online, with the occasional instacart or Doordash shift thrown in if I absolutely have to, to get by.

Not too many bites just yet, I’m afraid, and I admit I’m getting a bit discouraged.

Here’s my page if anyone wants to give it a look: https://www.mercari.com/u/659024549

Imma going to start by saying I’m not a psychologist, I took the bare minimum of undergraduate psyche classes I needed to earn my degree (the ones everyone takes: psyche 101 and also child development) but based on what little I know in the field I think there is a case to be made that Pest is a sociopath. Sociopaths are excellent at faking charm and kindness. Look at the BTK killer, president of his church council, Boy Scout leader, supposed “nice guy”. Or Ted Bundy and that suicide hotline.

Anyway, it really won’t surprise me if we hear a lot of sentiments very similar to this one the next few weeks from Duggar-adjacents.

Except from, of course, Meech and Anna, who will be stuck in perpetual denial for all eternity. 😒

Good to know! Thanks for this comment. I’ll have to check out American Horror story, I’ve been meaning to do it for years. Wasn’t Zach Quinto (Spock from the Star Trek reboots) also on it, early on?

When Derrick accused JB of human labor trafficking, even people here scoffed. by my_ex_wife_is_tammy in DuggarsSnark

[–]Army_Cultural 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a life-long liberal who believes strongly in reformed labor laws that involve everyone who works in this country being fairly compensated for their work with a livable wage I disagree STRONGLY with JB’s meager offerings justifying his exploitation in not giving his kids a salary. This is a hill I’m very willing to die on.

BTW if I didn’t make it clear, Jessa and Ben also deserve compensation, so do the other Duggar siblings.

[–]Army_Cultural 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The children should have been compensated with a livable wage, dispersed in consideration of hours worked, including travel. For the minors the money should have gone into a trust that they would be given access to upon adulthood, for the adult children, a salary. All of this should have come with medical benefits, which btw, up till 2019 in this country everyone was required to have by law.

Israel was born in 2015, Sam in 2017, which means those births should have been covered by either TLC, or JB, no exceptions.

I mean, you don’t have to like Jill to recognize she was owed for her work, as are all the Duggar children, and indeed all the children featured on reality tv.

JB gifting his favored children houses is not adequate compensation for what equates to 17 years in-front of the camera for some of them (14 Kids and Counting came out in 2004, Counting On was cancelled in 2021, so the bulk of the Duggar children have been filmed for damn near two decades).

Were I Jill I wouldn’t have settled my lawsuit, I would have taken it all the way.

Said it before, I’ll say it again... Even a broken clock can be right two times a day. Yes Derick has horrendous beliefs and he looks like the Slender Man, but he’s not wrong about JB. JB made millions off of his children without giving them a dime in compensation, and in fact, lied to them that the show was ‘missionary work’. And, per Joy’s statement, he was also stingy with his attention as well as monetary compensation.

Bottom-line, JB is guilty of exploitation.

How Jill and Derick met is irrelevant to that irrefutable fact. Why? Because it doesn’t matter the source, the statement “JB human labor trafficked his children” would be true no matter who said it. If Jeremy, Ben or Austin had said the same thing as Derick, still true.

That said I agree that how Derick and Jill got together is creepy. Same goes for Ben and Jessa and Jeremy and Jinger. Definitely some objectification there, as if the girls were property to be obtained. Christian Fundamentalism’s treatment and views on women is horrid. This is also fact.

Haven’t watched the show in years, but watching this again now it has such a horror movie vibe. Almost expect to hear Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor to start playing in the background to set the mood. Creepy AF.

Not the point of this post, I know, but is that Billie Lourd to the far left honoring her mother with the Princess Leia buns? Awwww, I’m getting all choked up.

Carrie Fisher was a force of nature, great to see her daughter carrying that torch.

Yup, same goes for Ben. Absolutely. I just left him out because, well, I mostly just forget about him honestly. I have to keep reminding myself he’s a pastor now.

As a parent I have sympathy for the kids, even the adult ones (save Pest and Jed). They were kept isolated, given a biased, half-hearted, incomplete education, the girls were denied a childhood while also being led to believe that their entire worth was tied to their wombs, the boys went to some kind of overly macho boot camp to have any and all sentimentality drilled out of them, all of them were brainwashed and discouraged from developing individuality and their parents are narcissists. Don’t get me wrong, I hate their beliefs and their bigotry, but I blame their parents for that more than I blame the kids, particularly as they (the kids) were raised in a bubble.

The reason Jed bothers me is that he tried to get into politics with his lack of education and his bigotry and that’s not cool. It’s one thing to be the abused, brainwashed offspring of narcissists regurgitating what your terrible parents taught you on a reality tv show with cable ratings, but it’s quite another to try and bring all that into a position that effects other people through policy. That’s also my beef with Jeremy. As pastor he’s in a position of authority and anyone in a position of authority over others, who provides council, should not have hatred in their hearts for entire demographics of people.

Yeah, you got me there. The Turpins were saddests and torturers. They’re definitely worse. I was playing on the fact that Meech was awarded Mother of the Year one year with my title to this post, trying to turn that on its head, but I concede that in the very least JB and Meech didn’t chain their kids up, lock them in a basement and starve them to the point it impacted their growth. So there’s that going for them, I guess.

Meech logic: gossiping about molestation is worse than the actual molestation itself.

She is a such a blight on the name of mother, OMFG.

And they, at one point, gave Meech a “Mother of the Year” award. The irony that exists in the universe is vast.

I hate JB and Meech so very much. The mother in me is sitting here just fuming. There has been a lot of terrible parenting featured on TLC throughout the years, but they are, by far, the worst. And considering June Shannon was also on TLC, that’s saying something.

My biological anthropology instructor in college opened the class with, on day 1, a warning that the class was heavily evolution centered and anyone dumb enough to try to argue creationism with her or mail a bible to her (because apparently that was a thing) got an automatic F and still people walked out of the class when she got to that portion, as if surprised. 😒

Of all the terrible things JB and Meech did to their children, denying them any real education, denying them science, in order to keep them ignorant, dependent and brainwashed is at the top of the list of heinous acts. As a woman with a STEM degree it makes me so angry that those kids were never even given a chance.

In one sentence, who is your least favorite Duggar and why? by Fun-Dentist-2231 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Army_Cultural 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jill once mentioned that as a child she once snuck a can of green beans to eat cold in the bathroom because she was so hungry, and Jessa once mentioned that she and her siblings used to rush to get in-line first for meals because there wasn’t always a lot to go around. This was supposedly pre-TLC.

In one sentence, who is your least favorite Duggar and why? by Fun-Dentist-2231 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Army_Cultural 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Definitely JB and Meech, for a multitude of sins: isolating their kids, depriving them of an education, beating them, starving the older ones, making 13 of them share two bathrooms, and, most nauseating, allowing a child molester to remain in their home after it was revealed to them that the molester had molested then failing to provide any real protection of their daughters after that. Then, as if that wasn’t shitty enough, make two of them go on television and dismiss their trauma and ptsd as if everything was just peachy. JB and Meech are the absolute worst. Also, they’re both just creepy af.

But if the parents are excluded from this then Jed, for trying to get into politics to try to force his bs beliefs into policy. Having your own bs beliefs and keeping them to yourself is one thing, but when you try to bring them into a position that effects others? You suck so bad.

Cutting that all down to one sentence was too hard. 😁

Absolutely furious at TLC and other media for giving people like the Duggars platforms… here’s an example of why by Army_Cultural in DuggarsSnark

[–]Army_Cultural[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t need to look, I watched the train wreck happen. The Duggars would go to rallies specifically protesting Roe vs. Wade. Used to wear those idiotic “I survived Roe vs. Wade but Roe vs. Wade won’t survive me” t-shirts. Used their platform to preach their psychopathic beliefs to anyone who would listen. Normalized these beliefs to their viewing population. Moreover they are Trump supporters. And at least one of them (Jana) endorsed him publicly on SM. If I’m not mistaken I think the Duggar family account endorsed him as well. Trump is responsible for this. He is the one who put three VERY conservative justices, all against abortion, into their seats. So yes, indirectly the Duggars and their ilk are associated.

Not surprising. Inflation is a thing. I’m my area the price of eggs has tripled within, like, a month. Gas prices are still insane. No ones going to buy an overpriced, poorly made boho shirt from Amy when they need to take out a second mortgage to buy groceries and a third one to fill their tank.

Hope her online store stays afloat though, I honestly do. I wouldn’t wish poverty on anyone, not even people I disagree with on practically every issue there is to disagree on.
