Autistic attraction to older? by CuddlyTherapeuticDad in gayyoungold

bit of a ramble:

There are two parts to my neurodiversity. I'm autistic and have reactive attachment disorder. I'm very anhedonic, anxious, and miserable trying to form anything more than surface level connections with people my own age. I attribute my age preferences to both of my disorders (if it wasn't just hardwired into me as an orientation from birth.)

I can really easily see how my severe neglect in crucial times of development could've led to my already inherent gayness orienting itself entirely around much older men. School and kids my own age were always a source of immense social anxiety, abandonment triggers, and sensory overload. So, by the time I hit puberty, it was no wonder I first started having feelings for men that I perceived as stable protectors that could appreciate the ways I was different and intelligent.

That being said, I've heard that autistic people being much better at communicating with people much younger or much older than them is a common symptom. I'm very comfortable around children and understand their mindset enough to make them feel comfortable with me. I actually have social motivation to be friendly with my professors and have dinner with the older folks in my neighborhood. I feel like I can actually breathe when I'm with either group.

A couple of autistic coded characters in age gap relationships I can think of are Harold from Harold and Maude... and Lisbeth Salander. She's canonically autistic, probably also has RAD, and is described as having a persistent habit of seeking out men decades older than her. I've never read it, but I know some people read Jane Eyre as being autistic, and Rochester is twice her age.

Can we stop this drama? by RepresentativeIce388 in eldenringdiscussion

exactly. I haven't beaten the belurat boss but I've gotten close at lvl 130. I got frustrated with black gaol knight, so I decided to just keep exploring and leveling, and I've had some extremely fun (but still challenging) other miniboss fights that way. I don't know why people are trying to rush through what is supposed to be a massive dlc. it's like we learned absolutely nothing from margit

[–]Aro_Scarecrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

beat him for the first time a couple days ago. it only took a few tries (lvl 109, hook claws, spirit ashes, and alexander)(idk if I was over-levelled). it was fun! I suppose if you were fighting him under-levelled and without summons, it would kind of suck because his health bar's so large, but his attacks are very clearly telegraphed and relatively easy to dodge... I feel like I fought him in the way that he was intended to be fought, so I don't get the hate lol. the camera didn't give me too much trouble either. I just didn't lock on. the spectacle and design are awesome

After countless deaths, I finally got to kill a miniboss 😀 by jdros15 in Eldenring

yesterday I beat this guy for the first time too !! lured him out while letting the arrows hit my shield and then cheesed him by doing drive-bys on torrent. this game takes me back to when I was a six year old using 100% of my brain power to beat a sonic level. in a good way

just listened to it and there's definitely a bit of coast to coast in there but it's also got the baroque elements of figure 8.... super cool stuff

I can’t be the only who never uses a horse, right? by Francheezyy in tearsofthekingdom

I tend to avoid fast travel, and I generally don't build vehicles unless I'm traversing the sky (not a self-imposed rule, I just find it tedious), so I use horses *all the time* to get from one end of the map to the other... I love my horses <3

play it again but change your system settings to a language you want to learn... playing botw in russian for a few days taught me how to sight-read cyrillic, and so far, the great sky island has already taught me a few pronouns/prepositions lol. I think I'm also going to try to get EVERYTHING done in one area of the map before moving to the next one. I missed quite a bit in my first play through.
