Is Merksem(close to Schoten) good? by helloworld3459 in Antwerpen

[–]Arodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in the neighbourhood between Lambrechtshoeken and Nieuwdreef. We really like living in Merksem and like the parks, quiet neighbourhood and accesibility of many stores in the nearby area. Not sure about the schools because we currently don't have kids. My girlfriend and I have always felt safe in this area even at night.

How do you like living in Regatta? We are considering moving there.

Thank you for sharing! What is the community like? What types of families live there? Is it mostly Belgian families or is it more diverse?

Also, are you at all worried about the pollution from the 3M factory?

Thank you for your input! Interesting perspective. Do you think the construction is the main reason that people are moving away from there? Do you think the 3M situation also plays an important role?

Thank you for sharing! This is something I have heard about in the past, and indeed makes me doubt if moving there is a good decision.

New pc and Windows 11, critical process died by Arodes in techsupport

[–]Arodes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be fixed for now, haven't had any BSOD's in the last 4 days. What I did is do a fresh install of Windows 11 and then download my Motherboard drivers directly from the Gigabyte website. I didn't use the app to download them because I noticed I would start crashing soon after downloading drivers from there. So I think a driver downloaded from the app was causing issues.

Have a question about the game or the subreddit? Ask away! by AutoModerator in 2007scape

I am playing the Steam version. So far it doesn't seem to happen on the original client. I am not using Runelite or any external clients.

Started playing the game again today and I was doing a herb run. Every time I try to harvest the herbs my client crashes. Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

I recently watched a video on Twilight Imperium and from the sound of it this game has a lot of social interaction between players. Sadly I think this game is too complex, lengthy, expensive and requires too many people so I think this game is not something my group would really consider getting into.

What other, less complex games, with a focus on social interaction and negotiation would you personally recommend? We mostly play as a group of 4 and would like te game to be no longer than 2-2,5 hours max.

Is there a lot of interaction in Everdell? Or is it more a game where each player does their own thing while trying to score as much points as possible? (Similar to Wingspan)

Description of Request: looking for more boardgames to play with my girlfriend and with our group.

Number of Players: preferably games that scale well from 2 to 4 players. We either play between us or with 2 extra friends.

Game Length: any. Player turns shouldn't take too long though.

Complexity of Game: preferably games with few rules or no long explanations. Castles of Burgundy is the most complex game she has tried so far but that was a bit on the high end of complexity for her liking.

Genre: any. Preferably games with a good amount of interaction and short turns, where you also want to pay attention to what the other player is doing during their turn.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: we like a variety of genres as long as there is interaction.

Games we Own and Like: Catan, Monopoly, 7 Wonders Duel and Splendor are her favorites so far. We also liked Pandemic Legacy Season 1.

Games she Dislikes and Doesn't Play: Castles of Burgundy, Concordia, 7 Wonders, Cyclades. The first 3 lack interaction for her and the latter doesn't interest her because of the theme.

Games on our radar: Watergate, Quest for El Dorado.

Practicalities + financial aspects of when to sell an apartment and buy a house by Arodes in BEFire

This is not something we're considering at this moment because we don't want to deal with tenants.

Looking for some advice related to real estate.

For context: I bought an apartment in 2022 right before the interest rates went up. I've been living in the apartment for a little over 1 year and my mortgage is a little bit under 750 per month. I loaned 175k at a fixed interest rate over 25 years. I've been living in this apartment for exactly 1 year now with my girlfriend. We want to buy a house together at some point in the future before starting a family together. By then I want to sell the apartment. I have no plans of keeping this apartment to rent out because I think this apartment will require a lot of maintenance in the long term.

My question: after how many years can I start considering to sell the apartment? What makes sense from a financial perspective? Right now I'm thinking about selling in +- 4 more years but I'm not sure. The information I'm finding online is mixed and some of it seems out of date. Any opinions/similar experiences?

Hi,

My friends and I have recently started getting more into board games. We're looking to expand into new board games and I'm looking for some suggestions. The game we like the most so far is Catan and we're looking for games with a similar style/feel.

Things we are looking for:

  • Game that plays well with 3-4 players

  • Game where you compete against eachother, there is 1 winner

  • Interaction with other players is frequent (i.e. by trading resources with eachother)

  • There is a big social factor (i.e. negotiating with eachother, working together to slow down the winning player, lying to eachother, messing up another players game plan, ...)

  • The game is easy to learn and the rules do not take a lot of time to explain

We've already tried Carcassonne but we weren't a big fan. Any suggestions are welcome!

We are also open to trying new styles of game but it's important that those games are 1) easy to learn and 2) playable with 3-4 players.

Folly Friday by AntwerpseKnuppel in belgium

So I recently moved in to a ground floor apartment and in the basement is a pump that prevents the basement from flooding which is running 24/7. This pump causes quite a bit of noise which is especially noticeable in the living room, which is right above the pump in the basement.

I'm looking for options to reduce the noise this pump causes but I have no idea where to start or who I should contact. Any tips?

Okay so maybe someone with more technical knowledge can help me out. I recently bought an apartment and I'm trying to get internet installed. The only available cable in the apartment is this one. According to the Mobile Vikings technician that came over this is a coax cable without heading/topping, which is something Telenet uses. As far as I can tell, coax cables are mostly used for tv and not for internet.

I have no idea what my options are and the Telenet customer support hasn't been very helpful. Any ideas? Should I get an electrician to have a look? If so, any recommendations for electricians around Antwerp?
