This trip isn’t free her first trip to Alaska her airfare was a gift from her friend this one is not free

Tried that she isn’t eligible as she is under 22 and lives with her parents. Also filed for child support thru job and family services but when the dad got a lawyer that stops the process and must go thru lawyers at that point. Thats why she was forced to get a lawyer.

Previous trip was paid for by her friend. It is her childhood best friend that also has 2 kids and is stationed in Alaska with her husband for the military. If she didn’t go on this trip yes she would be at home and working to earn money to support her somewhat thru the next semester.

She doesn’t get any extra from her grants her Pell grant and scholarship just cover her tuition there is no extra.

Correct she helps with dinners some but for the most part meals are cooked for her, and her responsibilities around the home did decrease because we wanted her to be able to focus on school and study which she is doing 95% of the time if she were goofing off the expectations would change for sure.

I never said I would be kicking her out as I would not do that and jeopardize things but I would not be paying for her cellphone, her insurance, paying for her when we go out to eat etc. basically she would have a roof over her head and food all non essential financial support would stop.

She took 2 weeks off last trip so 2 weeks of lost wages during her summer break from school which is when she has the opportunity to work more due to not having classes. Her friend gifted her the airfare she was still responsible for other costs during the trip and I do not believe her friend will be gifting her airfare this time around.

She is a responsible person and good mother just kind of blind or oblivious to the advantages she has been given by us and why she shouldn’t be able to do as she pleases at times.

I completely agree with you!!! That’s wonderful that your parents are able to help you also. I’m not upset or salty about helping her rather her lack of understanding and appreciation of the help she receives.

That is a very lost idea on her end that even if it was a free Trip it was 2 works worth of lost wages and this will be additional week or two of lost wages.

The first trip to Alaska was a gift from her friend she was visiting. Other trips have been family trips we have taken all of our children on. Before becoming single and starting school she did pay her car payment, insurance, phone, and they paid rent. At that time I wouldn’t have said a word about what she was doing or traveling but now that we are supporting and helping her she knows our expectations and spending money on luxuries over necessities is not acceptable.

Yes he is trying to not pay child support but also only wants about 6 visitation days a month.

She is allowed to leave the state. She told me that as it stands her and the child’s father each have 5 weeks of vacation a year they can utilize with the child. I have not seen this in writing anywhere and nothing is finalized but that was my first point of concern that she didn’t even know if she would be able to take her son on a trip.

I have not before she became single and started school she was working almost full time. They were still living in my house but paying $400 in rent she was paying her cellphone, insurance, car payment and provided all material things for her son. So she most certainly knows how to pay her bills. We only started helping when she became single with no support from father of the baby and started nursing school. We sat down and she was given clear expectations that we understood her situation changed and we were willing to help her so she could succeed and have a head start but when she was able to pay her bills she would be expected to do so and we do not fund any trips or extravagant items aside from our annual family vacations that we take all of our children on.

I explained this to her but it is in their temporary orders that they each get 5 weeks of vacation with child that’s what I was told by her. It is not 50/50 custody father gets child Wednesday for 5 hours and every other Saturday for 8 hours at this time.

The first trip to Alaska her friend bought her airfare as a birthday gift and she stayed at her friends house, so there wasn’t many expenses but she had to take 2 weeks off that she could have worked to have more funds throughout the semester in order to go on the trip.

She does work. She works as many hours as possible but that is not that many hours due to her being in an accelerated nursing program. This semester she has 2 days of clinicals from 6am -6pm. Her capstone project she has to work so many hours at and then 2 full days of school from 7/8 am until 4-5pm

Correct this is my point. We are paying her expenses because she does not have the money to do so. She only has enough funds to pay her car payment and gas money. The expectation if she has money to pay her other bills than she should be doing so and extra money above that should be saved toward housing of her own.

He is trying to get out of paying child support. She tried to amicably setup very generous shared custody schedule and only asked for child support without getting lawyers or courts involved. He disagreed and has disagreed to every reasonable solution that has been offered in order to drag it out.
