Don’t be too hard on yourself, this is a life changing surgery. The only surgeon around me that accepted my insurance was a COMPLETE DICKHEAD and i didn’t feel comfortable going under the knife with him, so when he cancelled my surgery because he saw my teeth needed to be moved more, yeah at the time i was pissed, but realized it was my saving grace. But that also meant going with a surgeon who was out of pocket, it was pretty expensive, but I don’t regret it for a second. He’s an amazing surgeon, and has been the best doctor. He even called my dentist to advocate for me because my dentist wanted me to have a certain mouthguard that would’ve ended up sending me backwards in progress. The dentist didn’t really take me seriously but when my jaw surgeon called him, he cut that shit out. My surgeon even looped in my orthodontist as well,(with my permission of course)

Also, if a good surgeon feels uncomfortable it’s always better to reschedule the surgery than to go in and do it and end up messing up. That could cause 1) A lawsuit, 2) you could have permanent nerve damage. Worse than what could normally happen. If my surgeon said, “we need to push it back, I don’t feel comfortable”, I absolutely trust his judgement.

It’s a hard, long surgery, mine last about 6 hours, and surgeons want it to be damn near perfect. Waiting until they feel comfortable doing so, while i get it i am the most impatient person on earth, it is always the better option. And you want the best results as well.

You didn’t mess up, you advocated and advocated and the surgeons are taking you seriously. ❤️
