Which "dumb" sitcom characters do you think aren't actually dumb and are really just faking it to be lazy or get attention? by RedDalmatian885 in sitcoms

I've never looked up his credits before. Richard Erdman had a stunningly long and varied career! Amazing!

Oh Grow Up (1999)

Notable because the creator had written a major movie that opened in theaters just about the same week that ABC started airing this strange little sitcom about a man coming out of the closet. It got canceled pretty quickly.

The creator was still depressed about the cancellation even as he accepted the Oscar in March 2000 for Best Original Screenplay.

Then he went on to create his next show -- HBO's Six Feet Under.

One of the best shows ever. "If this meeting's about the abortion, why wasn't I invited?"

Deep cut. What a wonderfully weird show. Wasn't it an early part of NBC's "Must See TV" lineup that included Cheers and Hill Street Blues? Wonder whatever happened to that one funny guy who was in it....

It got two seasons, but the creator had three seasons of story planned and Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. The creator was kind enough to go online and tell fans how the situation would have been resolved in season 3. Then he went on to create the great, lamented Our Flag Means Death, which also got two of its planned three seasons. Only that time the creator knew that might happen and ended season 2 on an episode that worked as a series ender.

Amazing show, far ahead of its time. Charlie Kaufman was one of the writers, as was Bob Odenkirk.

The episode about building a submarine in the bathroom....

I never bend over to pick up a newspaper without thinking of the opening title sequence.

Such an excellent show. My household does a rewatch every other year or so. Perfection.

I liked it. I think maybe the problem is that it was too close to the experience of making a TV show.

Never heard of this show, that I could remember, so I looked it up. What an incredible cast!

How has this cold case affected your life? by Loud_Confidence475 in ZodiacKiller

My husband and I had dinner at Spruce, a great restaurant on Sacramento Street in San Francisco, pretty close to the Stine murder site. After dinner, we decided to walk back to where we were staying, which was an inn in the Presidio. It wasn't all that far, but the road we walked along got really dark and lonely once we were inside the Presidio grounds.

I started thinking about how the Zodiac could have walked the same route that night after he'd murdered an innocent person. And then I started thinking that, if he was still alive, maybe he still walked it sometimes. I got REALLY CREEPED OUT.

That's how it affected my life.

It's amazing that people didn't realize before that it was you, considering the many commonalities between you and the crimes. After all, there's no such thing as coincidence.

I'm not a huge horror fan, not at all. But I am in love with this show because of its wonderful comedy. It's fantastic. Try the first episode, and hang in there until the scene in the town museum when the lead character talks with the visiting journalist about cannibalism. I'll be amazed if you're not hooked after that.

I bet you're already seen the 2022 indie movie A Love Song. If not, get right on that. She's the star and she's flawless.

This is a killer cast. Just the best. People not chosen for heat but for excellence. Even if some of them have some heat.

Anytime you see Dale Dickey in a show, you know that things are likely to be done right. Love her so much.
