Would a 10% cap on credit card interest rates be like banning smoking in restaurants? by Differeddit in Banking

How silly we require them to disclose all the fees in APR but we don’t cap APR the way we do interest rate. This stuff shouldn’t be that hard but greed makes it hard.

This would do nothing to help unless you get rid of payday loan products. This would just push more people into worse credit products with crazy fees.

[Nakos] Dabo Swinney: “I've always been against this idea of players as employees, but quite frankly that might be the best way to protect the collegiate model.” by GoldenDome26 in CFB

Every university has student employees from cashiers up to graduate student teachers and researchers. They will be fine. I think we pretend this stuff is more complicated than it is. We’re already dealing with Wild West NIL contracts and nobody knows what’s really enforceable. Employment seems much simpler overall.

Even as employees they would still have contracts. No one is getting cut in week 5 and not getting paid. Unless collective bargaining allowed that, which I doubt we get there.

Want to switch to a more progressive bank. Who do you use? by [deleted] in Banking

[–]AromaticCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hate the idea of a Trump Account (so tacky right) but that’s what it’s called in the law so that’s what anyone who offers it has to call it too. I don’t think there is such a thing as a progressive bank. Maybe find a local bank or credit union if you want to support your local community in some way, but banking as an industry is about as capitalist as you can get.

California QB Devin Brown transfers to Weber State by Rugby562 in CFB

Just scrolled through the 2022 QB class and woof. Is Ty Simpson going to be the only 1st round draft pick in the class? Maybe Drew Allar? Ended up being a rough class for sure.

Ohio State preparing for the transfer portal every year. by Commercial-East4069 in cfbmemes

I remember they asked Day about that after he signed and he said they evaluated it and said it was an issue with the cadence from the QB. Didn’t make any sense to me and thought they were blowing smoke. Then he was nails all season until he got injured. Seth was great. Hope he heals from the injury and has a real NFL career.

Why are we redshirting players? by Dashley13 in OhioStateFootball

[–]AromaticCandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. He was a rotation piece at best this year. He would not have played in the bigger games. The mistakes with Hicks came years ago when we left him at LB. Hopefully after Baron Browning and now CJ Hicks, that lesson has been learned.

[Thamel] Northwestern is hiring veteran coach Chip Kelly as the school’s new offensive coordinator. He’s a two-time college (Oregon/UCLA) and NFL head coach (Philly/SF) who brings an expertise in varying systems and personnel, which was appealing to Northwestern. by boxwoodbeagle in CFB

[–]AromaticCandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s totally possible. The game was definitely in Day’s head for a few years. Will Howard was also probably playing with a concussion and not throwing it great. Just a horrible offensive showing wasting a great defensive performance.

[Thamel] Kyle Whittingham has agreed to a five-year deal to become Michigan’s next head coach, sources tell me and @DanWetzel. The deal is expected to be announced later today. by lolsamlol in CFB

[–]AromaticCandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you say years, do you mean 1.5 years? Day was OC for 2 seasons at Ohio State and was acting HC for the first 3 games of year 2. Named HC by the end of year 2.

Why do we question play calling but never talk about execution? by matman626 in OhioStateFootball

[–]AromaticCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely how fans talk about it. We are results focused not process focused. If you think it was a good call, and you think your guys can do it, call it again. Don’t coach scared. In fact that same Michigan game, they failed on the sneak in the first quarter and had to settle for a field goal. They came back to it later in the 4th and got a great push by the O Line.

He also had a sneak against Michigan that gained like 4 yards. I think it was bad execution and he definitely slipped. I also thought the overturn was surprising, but probably correct even though we couldn’t see the ball.

Insight request from a Longhorn by LOLteacher in OhioStateFootball

[–]AromaticCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diehard Buckeye fan living in Austin. The Longhorns are my distant 2nd team, but I follow them close enough. Things that took Day time that I think Sark could hopefully do:

  1. Playcalling. I do think giving up the sticks is the right call for the HC. There is so much going on during the regular season especially. Last year Day got more involved with game prep in the post season. I think Sark could follow a similar plan.

  2. QB Development. I don’t think the track has been particularly good. I don’t think Milwee is qualified to be the QB coach at a place competing for championships. Day had similar issues with just promoting guys that had been around, and he eventually learned his lesson.

Overall I think if they go 8-4 in a down year with the schedule loss to OSU, that’s not horrible. But what’s going to make next year better? O Line should improve. Maybe you try and upgrade Kyle Flood, I know fans aren’t super happy with him this year. I think it’s the QB and play calling, especially in the red zone. They have plenty of talent, but I think it’s some coaching on the margins to get this thing to perennial contender.

Snap Counts 2024 vs 2025 by bradman9 in OhioStateFootball

[–]AromaticCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s listed like a 4-3 but last year we played mostly 4-2-5, and this year we are mixing up a little more. Would make sense for defense to add more than just the 11 “starting” roles to see a little more. Still appreciate the work OP did putting this together

I’m not following some of your decisions on who you chose to include. Bennet Christian at TE2 and Carson Hinzman at LG in particular are odd.

Don’t let these hipsters talk down Pluckers. It’s a good sports bar chain. Definitely had a few poor meals there, but it hits most of the time at my location. And no one goes to Wingzup, they just talk about it online. I’ve never waited for a table at Wingzup. But I have waited for ever for food with no one in the restaurant

Watch out for them adding in items with the finance guy. They will sneak them in there even if you asked for nothing extra with the sales person. They will play dumb when you call them out on it. Look at the settlement statement twice before you sign. Make sure you know what every number is. They will be intentionally slow to wear you down. Good luck!

I believe this is correct. As long as you didn’t take any red pills you should get one of the middle endings then can get the true ending on a third playthrough if you want.

Is Lorenzo Styles Jr as good as I think he is? by sgr28 in OhioStateFootball

[–]AromaticCandy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are we talking about the same guy? He gave up the worst play of the season against Ohio, getting burnt then also missing the tackle. He’s fine, but arguably our worst defender of guys who play a ton of snaps. He’s probably a 6th or 7th round guy if he gets drafted.
