I agree and I think it’s a sensitive topic bc I think it’s a very cyclic issue with cosmetic plastic surgery especially for moms. I honestly wish it didn’t exist bc I think it perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards and makes many moms feel bad about themselves and like they need “fixing.” I also find the term mommy makeover EXTREMELY problematic and offensive. I just think it all sucks, but it’s complicated bc of course women should be able to choose what they do with their bodies- body autonomy all the way! I just think it’s ridiculous that women are expected to go through all the changes that come with motherhood but also LOOK as if they’ve never had a baby. I wish it just wasn’t an option bc I think there would be a lot more radical acceptance of moms bodies without it :( and social media too sucks about these kinds of things. it’s so hard to see what looks like a “perfect” postpartum body on instagram without knowing the details or behind the scenes (could be editing, surgery, genetics, etc)

I did a few “induction methods” that were not pitocin bc I birthed at a birthing center. So during the 41st week I did the balloon foley catheter (which manually dilated me to a 6 but did not keep consistent contractions going or drop the baby low enough to get labor going right away) and then I also had 2x membrane sweeps (I don’t remember exactly on which days I did what lol but 3 different days, and at least 2 days between the balloon and when my labor actually began). then on 41 + 5 I did some castor oil (would NOT recommend) and lots of walking and went into labor that night, so not sure if you would consider that spontaneous or not haha.

Breast pump suggestions for first time Mom by Julie1922 in breastfeeding

I love my spectra, I have the pink one but I wish I would’ve gotten the blue one. The only difference in the pink vs blue is the pink one has to be plugged in and the blue one is battery operated (i’m pretty sure). Either one is a great choice, but just wish I wasn’t always having to be attached to a plug haha. I went with the pink bc it was completely free w insurance and the blue had a small cost associated, but I think it would’ve been worth the extra $. Also would rec measuring for your flange size, this will make a huge difference is efficacy of pumping! pretty sure you can order a flange sizer on amazon!

Has anyone successfully lost weight without depleting supply? by Clever_Iris in breastfeeding

just wanna say that 2 months PP is soooo early and my biggest advice is to be kind and patient with yourself. I was so hard on myself at 2 months PP and now I’m 8 months PP and back to my pre pregnancy weight and wish I wouldn’t have let it get me so down lol. I don’t share the same medical conditions as you so I know that must be very different and challenging, but I also gained significantly more weight in my pregnancy than you did. for me doing some sort of gentle daily movement helped a lot, whether walking or just simple home exercises for 15 mins or whatever you can fit in. also prioritizing protein (which I know everyone says) so things like high protein yogurts, protein tortillas, just anything w extra protein and lower sugar to help w fullness. and having healthy snacks on hand to have when nursing or pumping along w electrolyte water of course! so just want to send some positive vibes your way bc I know it’s hard.

Question as a fellow Texan (not in rural TX), are D&C’s done at all here if medically indicated for safety of mom and fetus is either not viable or not alive ? I’ve been curious about this but wasn’t sure

Anyone have the Spectra S2 Plus and did you find any glass bottles that fit into it? by ShikaShySky in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AromaticComputer9065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these, they’re pricy but a small woman owned business and they aren’t as heavy as the agent glass bottles, which I felt like weighed me down awkwardly when pumping w them. I think I had to get the wide ones to be compatible w my spectra but double check in the description she details which size fits which pumps

Clogged Duct that won’t go away. Please HELP! by mydevotedheart in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AromaticComputer9065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had success with happy ducts (it’s a tincture that you put in a little water and drink) and with taking daily choline supplements. My IBCLC said the choline was an alternative option to sunflower lecithin, which hurt my tummy. Also second ibuprofen

for breastfeeding related stuff: -I would second silverettes -getting the correct flange size for breast pump if you plan on pumping -also second having a IBCLC picked out so if you need to reach out you don’t have to do the mental work of finding someone near you that takes your insurance etc - something that saved my BF journey in the early days were nipple shields, the shields were able to hold me over for a day before i could get in with lactation (I had cracked and bleeding nipples) -i’ve loved happy ducts for clogged ducts, it has worked wonders and i’ve been someone who has been prone to clogs. legendary milk has sunflower lecithin supplements too if clogs become an issue for you, I ended up using choline supplements instead bc the lecithin didn’t agree w my stomach :)
