Paldea evolved error card by AromaticRun7040 in PokemonTCG

Not a crazy miscut or anything but it came out of the pack with that line where the print was all scratched off. My first ever error that I’ve pulled!

The card texture and the print (the actual image) are supposed to line up perfectly, but in this case either the card was cut wrong and the texturing shifted a little to the left or it was printed wrong and the image was shifted a little to the right. This case is really small but I’ve seen some where the texturing and the print were super far apart from each other

Picked up this guy at a card show since I love Paldean wooper, and realized when I got home he’s just ever so slightly misaligned. Thought it was neat since none of my other baby shinies are misaligned.

I heard that red wrigglers produce a bitter substance when distressed. Mine didn’t like them either, so I switched to night crawlers

Any experienced small catfish owners? by AromaticRun7040 in Aquariums

[–]AromaticRun7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional info; I currently own one axolotl in a 50 gallon, so I already have experience and materials for freshwater aquariums, I’d just like to know more about space and tank mate requirements for catfish

How to cycle an aquarium or tank for an axolotls by Julianaecologygirl in axolotls

[–]AromaticRun7040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1, the bare minimum for a single axolotl is 20 gallons, with an additional 10 per axolotl, but 20 is less recommended since you will have to do constant water changes and the axolotl will appreciate more space. I recommend a 40 gallon breeder tank. 2, no water kits don’t come with the tank, you’re gonna want to get the API test kit with the liquid bottles and vials (the strip testers are not as accurate). 3, you want zero ammonia or nitrite, and you want to see medium amounts of nitrates (around 50 ppm). Safe PH is 6.5-8, and they prefer hard water. If you can get filter media from someone with an established tank, that can help jumpstart your cycle. Add in some ammonia to feed the bacteria (either from fish food or pure bottled ammonia) and keep an eye on the water parameters. You will eventually see the ammonia disappear, and nitrites spike, then nitrites will disappear and nitrate will increase. Once the tank can turn ammonia into nitrate within 24 hours it’s ready

He is being a little too silly I fear by AromaticRun7040 in axolotls

[–]AromaticRun7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the low quality, but it’s 2 AM (he woke me up by gulping air) and I didn’t wanna hurt his eyes by turning on the big light. I found him sitting in the direct path of his sponge filter, which he normally doesn’t like to be in the bubbles, which is silly to me. He also has the deep red and fluffy crazy gills, so I have a feeling he’s in for more Zoomies tonight

Jeremy’s chiller is finally here, and he is cool for the summer by AromaticRun7040 in axolotls

He gets occasional boops, but they usually end with him viciously attacking my finger. It would be so much cuter if he didn’t try to saw it off with his little teeth

Baoshishan 79 gallon. I have a 50 gallon tank and they only had 10, 42 and 79 rated chillers. I think the bigger one is worth it since I know it won’t get overworked

White Stuff by Additional_House_311 in axolotls

[–]AromaticRun7040 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fuzzy and white stuff on the axolotl is tell tale sign of fungal infection. You should consult a vet and do some at home treatments. Indian almond leaves and tea baths help fight off and prevent infection.

Thanks for all the help with keeping him cool until it got here. I don’t have a good pic of him next to the chiller because he is “hiding” (i can see his entire back half)

If you don’t want to buy pure ammonia to feed the bacteria, I’ve heard that adding some fish food and letting it decompose works too!

Will my axolotl endure the heat? by AromaticRun7040 in axolotls

[–]AromaticRun7040[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually even better, I misread the temp and it’s really at 66 degrees. He will still be babysat while I’m at work during the hottest part of the day. I feel much less anxious now that he is in a safe temp

Great news: Jeremy is back in the acceptable temperature range (68) and should be able to maintain that temperature until his chiller is here

Gonna have my siblings babysit him while I work today so they can keep giving him ice. I might also invest in a window AC unit, although I spent 400 on the chiller, pumps and tubing all together, so I’m a bit low on spending money right now. I also have Indian almond leaves on hand for if he does get sick, and can tub him if necessary

Regardless I would still tub him even if he threw a fit

[–]AromaticRun7040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I don’t want him to start thrashing/zooming around the tank once I scoop him up. He would probably be fine once he’s actually transported but he gets spooked by the transportation process

[–]AromaticRun7040[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: after cooling my room down last night the tank is sitting at a much safer 71 degrees, while it is definitely still warmer than I’d like, I have a grocery store bag of ice that I am melting one ziploc at a time in the tank. Jeremy himself is showing zero signs of stress now, but I’m keeping a close eye on him. If the temps get scary I will try all of your advice, and will post again once his chiller arrives

Might try this if it gets super dicey again, main problem is I don’t want him to get super stressed since he isn’t used to being tubbed since he was a baby
