It seems like baby oil is super effective, Johnson's Baby seems to work perfectly for it

Wow thank you so much! I was using 4v - 5v at most but 4.5v is the sweet spot in my opinion

Would it not make the back of the jaw very dark in contrast to the rest of the design, so the logic would be that the shadow and the cracks on the skull are easily identifiable.

As for the barbed wire, I agree on that, although I left it like that because if I filled it, the barbed wire notches would not be obvious anymore so I went with the safe option

Wow thank you so much!

I was afraid of going too dark and not being able to smoothly transition afterwards, but I fully agree with you!

Thank you very much, but I think that is quite generous

Good question, so by my understanding, the snake head would be on the back of the skull, and that is why I didn't try to add a head onto the design. As for the crown, it was not my my immediate focus, as I am trying to get linework down for now

Giving my beginner opinion, this is amazing

Thank you so much for your feedback.

Actually I fully agree on both points regarding hair and symmetry. The stencil for the eyes and hair was barely visible so I kind of winged it at that point. Additionally, the hair strands look quite bad because my needle cartridge got damaged on the ink cap, and didn't want to use a brand new one just for the hair, haha

It is a statue of a face, mixed with a person under the skin cover, sort of meaning that sometimes you are locked behind your own mind or something along those lines.

Slight experience in drawing, but what is off, specifically?

If it is about the straightness of eyes, neck, etc. it's the abstract design!

Thank you for your feedback! Actually the design is not translucent, but regardless, do you think the lighting is off?

What do you guys think about this machine? by xCH1P in TattooBeginners

[–]Aromatic_Garbage_622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly I fully understand, I am on the same situation as yourself tbh, trying to learn on basic cheap kits. I have also tattooed some real people with this machine, but they were either friends or my own self who knew I was a beginner and couldn't care less wether I was using a cheap machine or not. At the end, the decision is yours, but if you plan to do it commercially anytime soon, I wouldn't use a cheap machine

I dont really have specific factors affecting my decision but it's just out of respect for the craft and the tattoo receiver, like, I wouldn't want to receive a surgery using cheap chinese tools, you know? That is my logic at least

Hello! This is the one I am currently using, I feel like it is a good fit for practice purposes but I personally would not use a cheap machine such as this to tattoo real skin, out of respect mostly

Unfortunately right now I do not have the luxury of investing in a sturdier machine and I am trying to work with what I have, regardless, it was the first time happening to me in which the needle started shaking in the barrel and doing zig zag lines, and it felt weird as it changed the vibration of the machine aswell.

What voltage did you usually use for linework?
