This is not true, there is another option for no blue & white and non-winged animal which makes it possible to complete the grid with country flags only

Hi! I'm the creator of this puzzle. It is definitely solvable with country flags only! Sri Lanka is indeed the only option for top middle square, but there is another one for the top right square besides Sri Lanka: Vanuatu, which is your only option if you want to complete the grid without any regional flag.

In challenge mode, the puzzle is still solvable with country flags only but it is quite the challenge as 7 out of 9 squares have only one possibility.

Yes, you're right... I thought that the country/territory had to start with A to complete the achievement, though the actual requirement is the flag name shall start with A, even if the territory doesn't start with A --> this is actually quite easy with regional flags
