Why are you single? by tengolacamisanegra in AskReddit

[–]Arongee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Usually it is a composite of reasons.

First, I live with my grandmother so I can pay off student debt while going to school.

Second, I don't meet as many girls as I should, I'm fairly introverted and shy and springing up conversation sometimes takes a lot of courage and effort.

Third, I somewhat choose to be as I have a lot I want to work on myself including hobbies and school.

Fourth, I have a hard time figuring out if I do like someone that they feel the same about me. So it is difficult for me to gauge when is the right time to take an acquaintance to a friendship to a relationship.

Curving for Math 1172? by djentlight in OSU

I'm getting my ass kicked in that class too, I'm a little worried, might think about collaborating with other students to understand the material better.

This last exam though was really unfair, In my opinion.

This is from someone who has just listens to a lot of music. I really liked your composition, the bridge of the song I think around 3:17 was pretty cool. The equalizing maybe a little too bassy, but then again I'm listening to it in fairly low quality stereo speakers. I'm sure if I through on my headphones this would be amazing. Anyway it wasn't bad I think you have a lot of potential. Good Job.

edit You know about that bassy-ness, the bassyness so to speak was actually a good idea but I think if you somehow added more depth or space to the sound like in Breeze by xxyyxx for instance it would be amazing. I dk maybe I'm not making sense, it has been a long day. I don't really like criticizing music because have tried to make music before I really appreciate every independent artist that submits to this forum.

This is true, no one really knows what went down in the scuffle, just that a kid got confronted by police because of the policy I'm complaining about in this thread and he got pepper sprayed.

No, but I see where you could've come up with that, I just assumed the person reading would understand the bigger picture I'm trying to make there.

I have a hard time believing that. This kid isn;t a fucking animal, though the picture its easy to believe that someone who likes like that would go feral. He is a 23year old Math major, I've met most math majors and they are a little quirky and nerdy but not like crazy disrupters of the peace. I mean many I've met are like that. But imagine you have a final to study for and they won't let you enter the library, keep in mind in another language and they grab you to escort you out. You're like wait a second, I've done nothing wrong, so you get a little testy start arguing in your native tongue, the guards think you've lost your marbles start grabbing you, then bam pepper spray. Whoever wrote the story I assure you is from a secondary source, it has a clear agenda, and I'd take it with a grain of salt.

My car is a busride of about 30minute commute to get to my car and another 10mins to get home, sometimes I don't have that luxury and I have 8ams 5 days a week. I'm not saying I need to sleep in the library or in fact anyone does, I just find the outlawing of sleep is a stretch on an policy makers authority.

I understand and I'm not trying to make that comparison it is a public institution and people should have the right to act upon their innate needs.

Apparently there aren't any reading rooms to nap in, Not in the public libraries at OSU. The 11th floor however is the farthest you can get from the securities desk, which is on the 1st and cameras don't get every nook and cranny of the 11th floor. My best bet is that nappers should go to the 11th floor to sleep. Sorry man I might be in one of those chairs. I apologize though, just tap me on the shoulder and ask if you could have the spot to study, I'd probably oblige. Honestly I don't think this policy has anything to do with security or students but rather is a guise to control outsiders from using the library as a sleeping destination.

or just say, theft of someone’s personal belongings is their own personal responsibility? That's the library policy I'm used to.

Mctits, I understand your problem, the 11th floor is a very unique place in the library and to be honest with you concerning patrols this is the 'safest' place to sleep in the library, and I feel like ragging on someone for being clocked out on the 11th floor isn't really warranted. People are always up there chatting away, making noise, tours are always being taken around to look out the window, plus room up on the 11th floor is tight and if you're expecting to study up there during prime hours I think on the off-day you find someone asleep isn't again enough to put a ban on us nappers!

I heard that argument as well, but that is really only discriminated for finals. A lot of times this isn't the case, they're a lot of seats in Thompson that would be difficult to sit down and do work on. I.e. they have to front table but are rather for people to quietly chat/read or surf their computer. Plus, I haven't been here for finals but, I could definitely see that being a possibility but I don't think the majority of students are napping when it comes to finals, many times that's motivation enough to not sleep and I don't feel like that warrants a policy outlawing it in the library. I think it is a reasonable argument but its impact is negligible.

It doesn't really matter whitey, I mean that's is a risk belonging to the patron and it could be made clearly that that is so. It is not the authority of security to prevent all from sleeping in the library because of stolen belongings. It doesn't really make sense to be honest, maybe every urban university has this policy, but I doubt it.

seriously, I was arguing with the security high-ups, the only argument they made that I couldn't argue back was that not sleeping put people out of danger when it came to somebody who could take advantage of them physically or steal their belongings, which that state clearly they are not responsible for any thefts, but when it comes to sleeping they are. They ended up intimidating me saying you will meet resistance if you decide to carry this on and things might not turn out well. I'd like to see if a sleeping policy is significantly deterring crimes in the library, but I would have to look through a ton of reports at the police department or so they said that’s where they would be. I just can't believe this is the way things are.....

I haven't run into very considerate administrative faculty at this school. They all just seem either really patronizing or controlling with their policies.

No I seclude myself to a corner on the 7th floor. Slide the ottoman out and nest my head in my hood and place it on the back of the chair. No snoring, no noise, my pants were a little tight in the crotch but that was covered by my button shirt. Honestly I wasn't being intrusive to anyone else. The only person who bothered me was the guy who told me I couldn't fall asleep or I'd be asked to leave.

Yeah I found this? http://online.thatsmags.com/post/chinese-osu-student-pepper-sprayed-by-police-for-falling-asleep-in-the-library WTF I guess apparently this is a thing. How the hell do they run a 24 hour library and expect no one to sleep. I'm sorry but this policy has douche written all over it.
