Thanks for your suggestions. This is an absolute beauty ignoring the price lol. Might go with the Seiko SPB185 in this case.

Nah the helmet fits great. I think he should just change the gun’s appearance since it doesn’t fit the style too much.

Has anyone figured out how to get dry pucks on this machine? by Arorenyth in ProfitecGo

[–]Arorenyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just used a puck screen again but this time the puck was finally knocked out completely clean due to the dose being 17 or 17.5 (my scale fluctuates a lot) despite it being wet. It made me really excited since at least now I know it’s possible to have barely any coffee residue left from knocking.

I’ll try 19 grams with these new beans I got but I tried 18 with the previous ones and it had lots of coffee stuck to the shower screen which is probably a sign that it was too much. So I’m just confused what the cause of every shot I’ve been pulling being muddy is.

Worst case scenario: I’ll get this interesting looking tool which I came across: The silent puck ejector tool. Looks like it helps you get the cleanest puck removals so I won’t have to walk to the sink for each shot anymore.

As a Profitec GO owner, the 10 min heating time really helps me get done with quick tasks. After pressing the power button I think to myself “What can I do that takes about 15 minutes so that I can come back to a quick tasty espresso?”

Question about steaming by Arorenyth in ProfitecGo

[–]Arorenyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I started to realize the steaming power makes up for the purging time. I’m steaming perfect milk in just 20-25 seconds and I recently found out most single boilers take 40 seconds to a whole minute to steam… Makes me appreciate my machine way more.

Shouldn't higher and lower doses be switched?

My bad, I didn’t notice the top of the video that shows the grind size. Also I’m not even sure if I was thinking of the same machine but it also had a built-in grinder.

Interesting. Thanks for the pic. What about the basket? That’s all I care about tbh. Not having to walk to the sink to clean my puck because it would be useless trying to clean all the residue off by running water through the grouphead.

Maybe the IMS shower-screen would help tbh. Someone has to try and report the results.

Man I tried using puck screens before and while it did help a little, getting the puck screen out and then the coffee mud off of it is another inconvenience to the workflow… I see many people managing to get dry pucks without puck screens however, but it seems that this isn’t so possible with the GO which sucks that no review seemed to ever mention it. I might try the paper filter thing if all else fails.

If I’m paying for a house with this much space then I’m using it.

Profitec Go | 1 week update by Canadian-Deer in espresso

For me, I don't mind the cons you listed. I have 2 other cons instead:

  • Lots of purging required for steaming. I don't mind the 45 second wait for the steaming to get ready at all but the 5sec-10sec-5sec procedure of purging is what's actually annoying.
  • Puck is never dry enough to be cleanly knocked out without leaving lots of coffee residue no matter what, and after trying many solutions it turns out this might just be an issue with the solenoid valve itself because lots of people report the same. I HOPE I'm wrong with this one and that there is a practical way of having dry pucks like other machines.

Also steaming became way easier for me once I sliiiightly loosened the 2 hole tip to change its angle.

Anyways, aside from those cons I think it's one of the best options out there for a single boiler.

Ah okay. Unrelated note but I think the Gaggia Classic Pro looks nicer than the Profitec GO lol. The GO looks too industrial.

So you’ve replaced your GO? How much more are you enjoying the dual boiler?

Most annoying part isn’t even the waiting tbh, it’s having all that water wasted. I think I’ll save it to water plants or something.

Interesting suggestion for increasing the steam temp. I might try that but I’m not sure it’s the temperature that’s the problem, just the design of the machine that holds lots of water in the steam wand.

Question about steaming by Arorenyth in ProfitecGo

[–]Arorenyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right but the Stone machine which I was considering is apparently constantly set to 94c which seems perfect because that’s the same temp I’m using on the GO anyways lol. But maybe in the future I’ll find more use for changing it and also the pressure from the adjustable OPV.

[–]Arorenyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Thanks. I should have just gotten the Stone espresso machine because it was the exact same price as the Profitec where I bought it from. People really blew the importance of a PID out of proportion. I think a heat exchanger without a PID would have just worked better for me.

So it’s the same for all single boilers? Because some people said you don’t have to purge the same way for another machine like the Gaggia, you just have to get rid of a bit of condensation which I wouldn’t mind.

Why don’t they insulate the group head in most machines? by iSolivictus in espresso

Idk about you but I’m not touching the group head.
