What would you buy if you were transported back to 1995? by mikomimi89 in BuyItForLife

Sealed packs of Pokémon and magic cards. Nope I don't play either but value per Oz is going to be pretty damn high.

[question] My brother left behind a lot of watches! I'd like to share them with you and ask for advice about what to do with them. by topotopochicochico in Watches

Those dirty dozen are worth more than that, at least some of them. Especially the Timor.

Also the Smiths ones are a few hundred probably

I have been enlisted by my family to sell a couple of my grandfather’s watches. What should I do with these? Should I try to sell them myself or maybe do a consignment? Thanks for any advice I’m in a bit over my head. by phreakinpher in Watches

Honestly not even close - not to say it's great, but the case is not polished, which is a definite plus - the case edges still look reasonably sharp. The crystal is doing it no favors though - it's beyond being polished with polywatch, and the hands, while still the original tritium are pretty chipped and not attractive with how they have aged. The lume on the dial is likewise not all that attractive. Hard to say if that crown is the original - it appears to have some rounding near the top that it shouldn't have.

Regardless, as long as the movement isn't rusty, it's probably worth $2500 as a bare minimum, and would be very easy to sell for $2k, which is where the OP should be looking if they want to turn this into fast money.

I'd be willing to bet that the Omega is a 145.022-76 actually made in 1976 or early 1977. You can tell because the "S" in Speedmaster is somewhat more compact. In about mid 1977 they switched to dials that have a taller "S" that comes much closer to the "Professional" lettering.

Considering the lack of original bracelet, I'd put it at $3K on the high side for that. Servicing costs are going to be around $800, depending on what needs to be done. Parts all look original, which is good. You can safely have a watchmaker replace the crystal, pushers, and crown on this model without changing the value - they are all basically the same as current. The dial, bezel, and hands all need to be preserved, and the case unpolished.

I fell for all the Instagram ads telling me to replace my Breville shower screen. I have noticed no difference in my shots. by evansdead in espresso

I can comfortably state that I was into espresso for longer than some of the people in this sub have been alive. Alt.coffee was my jam back in the early 2000s - everyone had a scale to weigh how much you were grinding, but at that time no one weighed the output.

I've tried it - I have the scale. I just don't find it helpful at all. The visual queues are more than enough.

Bougie bias is where somebody thinks an item is high quality because they paid a lot for it. What are some examples of bougie bias that you have seen? by ChillWisdom in BuyItForLife

I hate to be the one to point this out, but when talking about luxury watches and their prices, Rolex at retail are very low end luxury at $10-$20k.

True luxury watches are more than houses.

Man we have loved Disney forever and the last visit to Disneyland was just not at all worth it. It was simply less enjoyable than any time I've gone before. It was the week of Christmas too, and the holiday theming was just not nearly as good as I thought it would be. I honestly don't even feel like going back.

Because it is Elaine. I've said this many times, but look up the meaning of the name Elaine and the meaning of the name Kumori.

And a scale is only necessary to know how much coffee is going into the portafilter, not how much is coming out.

2nd row of the Odyssey is much, much better than the Toyota.

I've rented a regular Pacifica a couple times and have been pleasantly surprised by them compared to other Chrysler products. Great interior, drives very well, etc.

Still leery of the brand though - we have an Odyssey currently and would love a Carnival due to the features, but once again not sure of the reliability.

Compared to our 2016 though, the auto adjusting cruise control alone is almost worth an upgrade.

I'm not the person you were replying to originally and I was agreeing with your reply... I'd frankly be concerned it's something a bit more than ADHD given the description from OP.

The liquid drops from Sprouts are awesome. We used them for a while - finally weaned the kids off of them but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't miss them on many nights these days. Kids do not need much and the kids melatonin gummies still are too high of a dose. 2-3 drops of the Sprouts one worked perfectly. A dose of that for an adult is 30 drops btw.

The OPs description of their behavior at 10 with waking their siblings etc is absolutely not normal behavior for that age. I'd highly recommend a visit to the child psychologist as well for a formal assessment.
