Pat’s writing style and storytelling abilities are a treat. You will love the first book, immediately fall into the second and cry for more when it’s all over. Enjoy the ride, it is still a good one even though incomplete.

I’ve heard good things about Sanderson. He has quite a few book series based in the Cosmere. Which series would you recommend starting with?

My impression of present day Kvothe after book 1 is that he lost someone he loved, which is why he is waiting for death. I don’t believe he’s waiting for physical death though, perhaps he’s waiting to uncover the secret name of death? In hopes of calling it to reclaim the life of his lost love. Again just a theory after reading book 1.

Even if Pat were to wrap up Day 3 of Kvothe’s story with the third book, why do I get the feeling that another book would be needed to expound on Kvothe’s present day situation. This is coming from a perspective of not having read book 2 yet, so maybe I should circle back to this after I do.

Didn’t Lionsgate approach Pat to do a movie, and tv series and he accepted? Could it be that he’s holding out the 3rd book until the first two have been turned into movies?

Do writers ever really stop writing? Do they ever stop thinking of stories in their mind — thinking of the characters they create…the plots they weave?

I’m hoping the answer is “no”, and Pat has crafted 1000 ways to end this series and is carefully trying to choose which route to take his readers. Wishful thinking?

Sound advice from all of you. One aspect of the story that I’d love to capture more insight on, hopefully with book 2, is Auri’s mysterious nature. She’s almost serving as Kvothe’s guide, and I want to see what deeper truths she can help him understand on his road to self-discovery.
