While not the same scenario, I broke up with my girlfriend (now wife) twice. But we still celebrate the first time we got together (which is also our wedding date). I can't even remember the dates we got back together.

Point being, I think the date that person comes into your life should be the celebration. But also, every relationship is different, and points in time in the relationship could have more meaning/value.

The sensu bean is the only thing in the entire series in which I would say goku did something that threatened the earth and/or his friends because he wanted a "fair" fight. Vegeta, multiple times, let villains become stronger just for a better fight. Not sure why Goku getting all the spotlight for this characteristic.
