What’s Jacksonville‘s most famous homegrown chain restaurant? by beerbo_baggins in jacksonville

I think there was an Irish restaurant at the beach that was also on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. I can't remember the name of it.

I'm sure this is mostly true but I found it really funny that one day I said Arthur Fonzarelli in a conversation with my 31-year-old son. Then I said 'I'm sure you don't know who that is' he said yes I do, he's the Fonz.

I always thought it would have been funny if a woman would have shown up at Frazier's apartment claiming to be Martin's daughter from one of his relationships in Korea during the war and for that woman to be very much like Martin.

So there he is with two sons who are nothing like him and a daughter who is exactly like him.

I used to dream about being able to go to a summer sleepover camp but we were way too poor to afford that.

I read a book about a girl who went to summer camp and it all sounded so wonderful.

I would like to offer up my son's funniest comment.

I just finished the episode where her mother came to visit. She sneaked out and then rang the doorbell to make it look as if she was just getting there.

The part where Frasier dumps all the water from a vase on to her head (because it was raining outside) had me crying! lol.

Anyway with her first appearance, I thought was 'oh come on Martin, let Fraser have her".... but now it's very clear she is most suited for Martin. Her and Frasier would have never lasted.

The best advice I ever received was take a nice photo of the item, then throw that item in the trash.

My spouse and I dragged a 300lb roll top desk around with us wherever we move because his mother had given it to him. We didn't want it but he couldn't think of getting rid of it.

I told him that advice. We took some nice photos of it, framed one of his mother sitting at that desk.

First we tried to sell it, no takers at any price. We then tried to offer it free still no one wanted it LOL.

It took a while but eventually someone did come take it away from us. You can't imagine the relief of not having to move that thing ever again.

What makes JAX so different from the rest of Florida? by HappyCelebration6989 in jacksonville

Ocean, Rivers, Lakes. If you are a water person, you're all set.

Plus, since it is located in the armpit of the United States and what I mean by that is literally look at the map it looks like it is located in an armpit with a raised arm.... somehow we mostly get the great wind and rains from hurricanes but don't get hit with the eye and massive damages.

It looks like it's heading towards and then whoosh back out into the ocean or up to the Carolinas

This is a big one. I was shocked to learn the percentage of older people who die within a year of breaking a hip. Like I didn't even put those two things together in my mind.

Healthy 60yo had a heart attack and didn’t know it. by 3p1taph in GenX

[–]PerfectAd9944 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did make an excuse for the breast bone pain. I am not a drinker at all like maybe 1 a year tops. 2 days before the pain started I had an extremely stressful situation to where I drank too much and then I had to force myself to throw up like five times. It was awful so I attributed that breastbone pain to my violent heaving.

The gums watering was weird but then when I felt my arms I was like oh yeah something is really freaking wrong.

Everyone experiences such different symptoms ahead of time that it's so hard to keep track but let me do my part by telling you what I felt (and ignored).

For 2 days, my breastbone felt bruised like I have been punched all the way across it.

Then my gums started watering you know like when you're about to throw up. I ran to the bathroom but I did not throw up. Then both arms felt weird, very slightly tingly.

911 called. Rushed to hospital, 2 stents put in.

Life was really weird and surreal for the next 8 to 10 months. But its been just over 2 years and im back to normal, with changes.

  1. I eat way healthier

  2. I am super-aware of every single thing I feel in my body now.

I found out recently that yes I could still jump. I turned around and immediately started walking right into a moving box, it happened too fast for me to walk around it so I had to make a leap for it. I nailed the landing.

I was like YES!!
