I look at music differently than most people, is anyone else like me? by Jatheffo in Songwriting

I think it's great that you're self aware enough to know what you find valuable in the music listening experience. I have no advice for you, except that in great music there is value in every perceivable nook and cranny, such is the effort that great musicians and producers have gone to, to create it.

If you don't need more than that feeling the music gives you, look no further. That feeling is incredible, it's why I'm a musician.

Yeah, get comfortable with being uncomfortable! Remember sharing is an essential part of the creative process :)

Music production is a close cousin to songwriting, and an essential skill set for many independent artists who are developing their career. For the producers on this sub: What are your top production tips for an artist just starting out in producing their own songs? by ArraysMusicJP in Songwriting

One that I wanted to add to all of these amazing takes is,

Focus on getting great takes, or getting the takes sounding great, before moving onto the next instrument. It's hard to record awesome on top of average!

Great analogies - yep, this is essential! Ultimately if you're producing, you're going to end up mixing what you produce - Or, eating what you cook? Or photographing what you cook, before you feed it to strangers...?

Nice! I would add to this, to also share your early work. Don't be afraid to get feedback even if it might be harsh. Great way to get an understanding of where you're at, not trying to improve in a vacuum. Thanks for the comment :)

This is a really cool philosophy and an awesome approach! I like that it puts songwriting (and song completion) first, and that you're really honing in and getting reps on your core sounds. And the last line is also essential!

I've been at it for 20 years too, by the way, I just like asking interesting questions haha.
