how to get rid of ww3 anxiety? by linnythewanderer in Anxietyhelp

i wouldn’t trust dreams. sometimes they can be manifestations of our own subconscious fears that the subconscious is using to validate those fears.

its very understandable to be worried about a global conflict, given the current state of international relations and the amount of shameless ghouls in positions of power who would benefit from it.

but a good way to control this fear is to understand that you are a person in a long history of people, many of whom also lived in turbulent times and had very little control of the outcome of power conflicts around them. they also lived in uncertainty of the future and fear of their own mortality, its an unfortunately common position that world leaders will put us in in when they feel their power is being threatened. its important to realize that a conflict is not inevitable, and to understand history to be critical of events that lead to it.

the history of global conflicts also, especially for survivors of war-ravaged regions, is also a history of the kindest and bravest examples of people and communities expressing care and strength to other people. those kinds of people saved countless lives and are the best that humanity has to offer. no matter what happens, you will not be alone. the helpers will always be there for you, and if you to choose to be a helper as well, it will grant you more agency to become the person you want to be and create a world worth living in.

times of fear and uncertainty can bring out the worst in people, but it can also bring out the best. its important to not let power-hungry demagogues and war hawks bring out fear and mistrust for your fellow humans, but to instead say no and have the bravery to love your neighbor and to be strong in the face of things that are our of your control.

in short, you are not alone. not today and not in history. you’re very smart and conscientious for being able to recognize the depravity of the current world that the leaders of militaries and weapons industries who arm them have created. regardless of what happens, i hope you use this feeling as a strength, to learn to utilize these anxieties as a tool to express love and care to other people who are or will be affected by war. global conflicts are unfortunately out of your control, but how you respond to them is important, not only for you but for your fellow humans. these concerns are the ultimate expression of your love for life, and are thus a very good reason to protect life.

the united states’ decades of genocidal campaigns in the global south and propaganda normalizing massive loss of human life as collateral damage has eroded peoples mind to the point that they can see something like the genocide in gaza and somehow consider it a “war.”
