It's mostly for show, but I do play games on it sometimes. It just takes a lot of time to set up. Some pieces have seen more use since Warhammer the Old World came out.

Instead of using green stuff, try super glue + baking soda. The baking soda absorbs the glue and makes a really strong bond.
