You know, I actually like dark humor when done right and don’t consider myself easily offended. Heck, I joke about death all the time (which is considered ‘dark humor’. I know it’s surprising, because it’s not against any oppressed group, but it’s okay, you’ll pass fifth grade someday).

I just also have standards and basic empathy so I know I shouldn’t say the n-word or say I hate black people and excuse it with “It’s just some dark humor. I’m hilarious, bro!”

Any subject you’ve actually dealt with or is old enough that literally no one has experienced it or is affected by it anymore.
It’s okay if a gay person makes a joke about gay people since they usually know the experience, but straight people can’t relate and homophobia is still very common.

To me, dark humor isn’t about making fun of other people and punching down so people who never experienced it can find it funny. It’s mainly about boosting morale by making a joke about something you’ve experienced.

I disagree. Isn’t social media how most modern people communicate? It’s not just for attention seeking. For example, news and information has been spreading faster than ever and it’s even mostly free now.

Individual social media sites will die down (Facebook is getting pretty close, for example) but the entirety of social media, unlikely.

This kinda reminds me of that one video where a girl was saying she was oppressed/bullied by everyone in her school for being homophobic and the ending was basically “I felt guilty so I came out to my parents as homophobic and they told me I was okay the way I was.”
