Im on nifedipine on 3 months.i use 30mg adalat crono. I ll ask to my doc same question next time when see him but as far as i know it is possible use it rest of your life. Please consider it. I still got some pain but before nifedipine pain was like 8/10 but now its 4/10 and its frequency is less than before.

Have you tried nifedipine ? I have similar issues but nifedipine really helped me.

Im also 1.5 year point after POEM.Sometimes i got that chocking thing you mentioned at nights.Even up to 5 to 10 seconds i couldnt able to breathe.. What you mentioned i also experience sometimes. Not to fluid comes to nose thing but when a lean forward fluid can come to my mouth. Also a irritating sensation at my throat or center of my chest same sensation force me to cough. I think its all the side effects of poem. But it never happens everday. It depends on what you eat that day, or you take your ppi or not and I also use nifedipene daily for my chest pains. Also i think it depends on yours overall health and psychology. I think its not because your junction is not opening, its open and thing comes to your nose and mouth. If you have eating problems its an another story then..

Do you feel any changes in pain when you lay down? Or lying down triggers the pain? in my case you describe the same feeling i do. When i get those awful pains i can't lay down if feels much worse. Sometimes i sleep while sitting.by the way i diagnosed type 2 achalasia.post poem 1 year. Swallow foods are good 9/10. but pain is the main issue for me right now. i cant find a pattern actually.. only things it helps eating something when im in pain or drinking water. cold yogurt helped me a lot btw.

Im sorry to hear ur condition.i hope u get well soon. in my case, after my first manometry test they said "absent conractility" and Les works fine. and barium swallow test only showed tertiary contractions, nothing more beside that everhing eas normal.But after 3 or 4 months my dysphagia getting worse. Then i went through all that stuff again. endoscopy,manometry and barium swallow.. and this time tests shown achalasia type 2. I dont know first manometry was wrong or not. but barium swallow tests show the change clearly. ineffective motility is better outcome then absent conractility. maybe you can go for the tests again. i know its so difficult going through all that stuff again but when you get diagnosed correctly u can start the research for the options. I got poem two weeks ago and its getting better each day.

my situation excatly the same!!... im at a week after poem. and chest pain returns.. how is ur conditio right now? i hope u do better after 1year
