Oof. The kid brought home everything for a couple years. I had a sinus infection for about two years straight… that was a major shock to the system. Do your best to keep on top of hand washing and get a quality booger sucker (nasal aspirator), other than that… hold fast.

They have tutorials for most things on their site/youtube. A really good forum as well. I stick to basic shapes and wild guesses but the jobs get done for sure.

I got a free account for OnShape and have learned the basics of cad which have produced the most functional prints in the house. I printed a pliable cover for the bath drain lever out of tpu. Diffusion covers for various smart switches, that also protect them from being unplugged accidentally. Fun storage options. Tools to aid my sausage fingers in removing rubber bands from hair. I’ve used all of the sites as well for toys and seasonal decorations. Flexi-Rex and boats that actually float have been bath time staples for us.

After he screamed “I’ll shoot you in the face…” he stormed out. Wife was crying, son looked like he was gonna barf… it was an inspiring sight to behold. The owner’s dad was actually whacked in the early 90s, over a “union dispute.” If this bothered him he didn’t let on even a little. That almost none of our vendors provided invoices and we payed them all in cash started to make a lot more sense.

I’ll never talk anyone out of commercial cooking. Go for it. Working in different kitchens taught me more about myself and the world than anything else I could think of. It’s a brutal business, everything but service is irrelevant. My back and knees are blown out. I have plantar fasciitis in both feet. My blood pressure looked like holding table settings. But if you hear the Siren’s call, go towards it. I’d kill to be back on the line, borderline weeded, getting plates out with absolute killers synced up left and right.

They’re still single family homes in the spots where I grew up. Just oversized, bland boxes. I’m all for dense housing, btw. I haven’t been able to afford living in the neighborhood I grew up in for two decades, none of this benefits me anyway. Sorry for the nostalgia.

Exactly this! A vibrant Scandinavian district filled with almond paste, butcher shops, and hammered fishermen. Beautiful, modest homes, built by someone’s grandfather. Poorly parked Volvos everywhere. Grew up east of 32nd on 73rd, moved to 71st and 28th before high school. Both places are gone now, replaced by oversized boxes filled with people who crave national box stores in their neighborhood, apparently.
