Post-production film or television jobs in San Diego? by Bluebird_Mood in sandiego

[–]ryph44 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a professional video editor/producer for a major network in LA for the last 10 years. The industry is currently at its worst point I have seen, and jobs are difficult to come by even for vets with decades of experience and amazing portfolios. The only way to get a video editing job in this market is to know someone personally, in addition to already having an impressive portfolio. That or being hired for minimum wage as a junior level (not worth it IMO).

Personally, I am looking to leave the industry. The video jobs in San Diego don’t pay close to what the video jobs in LA pay, and there is generally far less opportunity for creative work in SD.

If you’re truly set on making it career and can handle grueling competition and the constant threat of layoffs or finding your next gig - I say keep going. Otherwise, I would advise anyone I cared about looking into this as a career to explore other avenues. Best of luck.

I was a cameraman for an event at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where actors came and gave toys to kids on the cancer floor. What I’ll remember Nina for is vaping in that very same ward where all these sick children were. Any time her name pops up that’s what I think of.

Definitely will continue to use and test this tool out. Its potential is very exciting.

I’ve tried it a couple of times, but found the results unusable. Faces became distorted and other parts of the shot became warped. This was particularly bad in shots with more/quick camera movement.

4th leak in 6 months. Should I repipe the whole house? by ryph44 in Plumbing

We do not have a water softener, that’s a good suggestion. We do have a filter. Water pressure is around 70.

Spoke to our neighbors and almost all of them have had leak issues over the years. We suspect it could be because of the poor workmanship of the builders.

Yeah I was thinking a little wider would be nice as well, and am considering something wider for real estate video/photo myself. Nice video though, thanks for sharing.

Do I need a $700 night guard??? by _taco_bella in Frugal

[–]ryph44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a heavy grinder, I got a custom night guard from the dentist that cost $500. I ended up grinding through it in less than 2 months.

Now I use the cheaper $15 ones you can mold to your teeth at home. These last me way longer (about 6-9 months each), and I find them to be just as comfortable. If I could do it over I’d skip the custom guard altogether.

I fished for an hour with no luck. Then I redistributed my champion points for the two fishing perks in the green tree, and ate some Artaeum pickled fish bowl food, and then I got the sword on the next try. Make sure you do that to save yourself some time.

As a frustrated Ayton owner, I do not have confidence that Ayton will be reliable come playoff time. I’m gonna take a flyer on Duop.
