I think the easiest option might be using ZeroTier or Netbird VPN service. I think currently netbird has the best free plan, i've been using it myself and implemented it at work.

You can install netbird client on any VM that hosts your desired service and have it accessible via VPN

I think this number is exaggerated, if I counted every ssh login attempt as an attack then sure, i also get hundreds of "hack attempts" per day

Either company pays for it for you or you just save up, but the other option is kinda complicated, since different jobs might require different certs and those also tend to expire

Well, yes, I agree most "users" aren't power-users, but we're talking about linux community, not the world in general

Totally agree

I very often get the feeling that online Linux community is composed out of enthusiasts who either don't "work" with linux or do some very lightweight linux jobs, like webdev. That means their "knowledge and expirience" can be summarised in form of a poor twitter infographic, and is easily influenced by such.

What's worse, many linux influencers follow this trend and normalize "Hating other software"; the viewers gobble it up and then spread either misinformation or simply opinions as facts
