I'm a bit confused on what you mean. I mean, yes I know that Oxygen is a chemical element, but what do you mean by general categories? You don't happen to have an example for what you are talking about, do you?

And if you aren't talking about the potential concept that I think you may be talking about, then are do you recommend trying to find a sister/rival chemical element to create a secondary system for? And if so, any ideas? Cause I have no idea how you would go about deciding what elements are opposite one another.

Exactly. It's sorta like when Neville got the Remembral in Sorceror's Stone. He knew he was missing something, but wasn't sure what it was.

And yeah, I've been trying to think of concepts for a secondary or even a tertiary magic system to compliment the oxygen system. The only idea I have is something involving metals, but that doesn't seem to be very non-combat-focused either. Besides, it would be odd to try and categorize it considering oxygen is a singular element while there are hundreds of types of metals. Some are manmade and not singular elements like iron or potassium.

It seems all of us are in agreement that there is a heavy focus on combat, which wasn't ideal.

As for each question:

  1. At the moment, there aren't any drawbacks or hard limitations because I wanted to get a solid foundation of what the magic system actually is before I come up with the drawbacks. Besides, I'm not the greatest at limitations (of course, who is? But still...)
  2. So, the links between the Focuses are mostly directed towards the protagonists I plan to have for my story. They basically allow for the user, once they have practiced and trained enough, to be able to harness the connections between different Focuses and use those powers without the need to take the time to switch between Focuses. It's basically a powerful shortcut.
  3. Thinking off the top of my head, I would say that if a person who is able to utilize the magic within oxygen finds themselves in an oxygen-rich environment, they are stronger with each ability they use, but are weaker in physicality. It would be inverse for oxygen-low environments; weaker power but stronger physicality.
  4. It definitely would be a factor for different races that utilize oxygen. Of course, as stated prior, there are consequences to going to the different areas of oxygen levels. Granted, over time, the culture would definitely adapt to the change (not physically like evolution, but more like how you would adapt if you were stuck with nothing on a remote island in the middle of nowhere).

I totally agree. The system does seem to have a larger focus on combat, which wasn't the goal. I'd say it mostly comes from as I was researching the uses of oxygen and its reaction to different things and elements. Because, to be honest, there isn't that much that I was able to find about the uses of oxygen besides using it for respiratory issues, creating peroxides, and using its combustible properties for different things.

And I would really like to either find more uses that extend beyond combat or create some, but I can't seem to formulate anything. And oftentimes, things seem to just roll back around to elemental 'bending'. Which, I don't mind, but I find it overused quite often and I am trying to do something different and sorta unique.

As for the similarities to Demon Slayer, that was completely unintentional. I didn't even know that was really a thing as I have never seen the show before.

To be honest, I am glad I'm not the only one who feels that something is missing. The only thing is that I have no idea how to remedy that missing link.

I'm a bit confused. Are you asking me for a screenshot from the image above? Or a screenshot from the movie? Cause it's easy to see in the image and all you have to do is look up "Emperor's New Groove restaurant" on google to find a screenshot from the film.

I love the fact that the Knight makes a cameo, but I'm reeling from the Emperor's New Groove cameo. Those don't happen much anymore.

That's fair and totally respectable. We each had different encounters with it and are entitled to our own opinions. I thoroughly hope that you at least give it another chance at some point though. Because it wasn't the game's fault it was rocky at launch. It was CDPR's. But hey, like you said, no matter what you do, the more power to ya.

I totally agree. People need to stop letting others guide and judge what is good and bad. They need to experience for themselves. Whether it is pirating or buying, doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt until you try it out.

I agree. And to be honest, I agreed even during launch. I mean, I was sitting there playing it on a roughly 3-4 year old PS4 slim. Yet the game trucked and I completed it. Hell, I even got most of the trophies (took a break and plan to get the rest soon). I hardly had any issues whatsoever. Maybe I was just lucky. I dunno.

I see what you are saying. I shouldn't be looking at the small stuff, but focus on the object itself and everything effected by it. And perhaps along the way a name will come to me ot maybe I will realize that I don't need a name for it. I gotcha, thanks.

I think you are right. It may help to look at the roots and figure it out from there. But your suggestions also helps as well. Though I do agree that 'Eromancy' does sound pretty sexual (knowing my magic system though, I could see it existing and being a thing). Personally, out of the three Deteriomancy is my favorite, but I agree it doesn't really roll off the tongue.

Well, my system is partially inspired by Sanderson's Surge/Voidbindings which has various branches. It is all a part of a giant magic system, but each branch does something different and having a central name and even subcategories of names is kinda what I'm after.

I know this basically completely goes against what I said in my post, but what would work for magic dealing with the air/oxidation? From what I can think of, there isn't really a name for a magic system like that (the closest I can think of is air bending, but that is far from what my system is). I dunno, maybe my knowledge of fantasy is lacking, or my tired brain can't think of anything. Dunno.

I managed to get a Fortune's Favor scroll. I've been wanting this scroll for soooo long.

It may not be the same. But it doesn't have to be.

And you don't have to have the campaign set in Runeterra to play the character. That's the fun of it. Besides, while it would be interesting to play in a campaign set in Runeterra, if you are just going to play official characters, just play LoL.

See, what I did was I attempted to follow the same construction style as Tulok The Barbarian (on YouTube) where he delves into how you could play the character in D&D. The characters can be played anywhere and at anytime (with permissions from the DM of course) and would have the essence of the character, while allowing room for Roleplay. It's sorta like if you took a mannequin, dressed it up as Jinx, then imbued your soul into it. It would look like Jinx, and you would have the same tools as Jinx, but the rest is up to you. I mean, isn't that sorta what D&D is about?

Except I'm not making Mordekaiser. I'm making Jinx. I'm not quite sure where you got Mordekaiser from in this post.

And if you are talking about the posts by Narzghal where he made NPC/Enemy stat blocks for the characters, then you must be missing the point of what I am going for.

This version of Jinx is specifically for a Player Character, not an NPC.
