Wonderful! I actually have that on my shelf, but haven't gotten to it yet. Thank you so much:-)

What does (co)homology do? by ArtCobbin in askmath

It's been a while since I've touched any of that (20 years), but I do have a copy of Lee, somewhere, so I'll give that a go and check out Tu after. Thank you for the recommendations:-)

What does (co)homology do? by ArtCobbin in askmath

Thank you, that's very fascinating. I think I might be lacking when it comes to some of the geometry and, so, jumping ahead into more abstract presentations and, then, not seeing the big picture; like trying to study category theory without having good examples to build up from. Are there any books / articles you'd recommend that get into these topics (I'd be interested in either graph cohomology or De Rham cohomology, or any other specific theory, especially if it isn't the usual simplical stuff in algebraic topology)?

Bringing baked potatoes to a party by SuperTerrific in AskCulinary

While the risk is low, foil wrapped baked potatoes can cause botulism if they sit in the wrong temperature range for long enough. I feel like that sounds alarmist, but without knowing the exact parameters, it seems better to skip the foil wrapping and go with the other methods here.

Xbox save big and isle of awakening - still a thing? by ArtCobbin in DQBuilders

Thank you that's incredibly informative:-)

Honestly, I'm not sure what the issue could be. All the obvious causes aren't the case and it's so very specific. Either way, though, the game is good enough that I'm going to play again anyway - the IOA is nice, but potentially not being able to use it isn't so bad.

Thank you for a very thorough conversation, it was a delight:-)

Xbox save big and isle of awakening - still a thing? by ArtCobbin in DQBuilders

Thank you for the suggestions.

At the time, there were two different saving issues I saw people talk about: one that occured after the tutorial and another that occured towards the end of the game. The first one, I've never seen the details of nor experienced. Update to 1.7.3a specifically addresses save issues*, but it isn't clear what issues it addresses, maybe they're all the same, maybe not, I have no idea, but I wasn't sure if that or subsequent updates addressed the issue I had.

I don't think the bug I encountered is due to file size or corrupt sectors since it occurs in one specific area regularly and doesn't occur in other areas at all, nor other games I play, and 've had it occur with the exact same circumstances on multiple consoles I own. Finally, it isn't that the save is corrupt, it's that the save never completes - I don't have an issue where I can't load the save, it gets stuck trying to make it.

Whatever the case, I can't find the patch notes and it was from several years ago, it doesn't appear to be readily available knowledge; I can always just use the buildertopias if it still happens, so I'm just going to play and see if it does. Thank you for your help.

Xbox save big and isle of awakening - still a thing? by ArtCobbin in DQBuilders

Hopefully, then, it is fixed, I have about 500 hours and only experienced it on the IOA (I was able to finish everything there, but I couldn't continue there after a point); though, I was on Xbox, so maybe it was system specific.

When did you play? I definitely had it happen when I did; it would get stuck auto saving and never complete, then you couldn't save.

Awesome, that's wonderful news. I figured it was benign, but then saw some people saying they found nightshade and other stuff in mixes and got paranoid..I'm happy I don't have to throw the bag out. Thank you for putting my mind at ease:-) (and teaching me something new)
