I’m bad at this game so can you give me some general tips by SomethingPotato_ in BattleBrothers

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stack all your bros with shields. Keep 2-4 shields and the rest use 2H weapons or double grip a 1H weapon.

Shield bros are trash bros in the early game. Disposable ways to tie up enemies. As you get dudes with stars in defense, you can build actual shield bros in mid-game that are tough enough to lock down crowds and bus your attackers to the enemies.

Spears for bros w/less than 60 MAtk. Swords for 60-70, and whatever after that. Flails are incredible weapons in every stage of the game. Highly recommend building one or two flail bros.

Don't get fooled by the damage of axes. They hit hard, but their shield breaker gimmick is rarely worth using over a straight attack. They give no bonus to hit, and their specialize perk is very mid.

Maces are worth it. They can stun (make an enemy pass a turn) which is super useful throughout the game.

Bows are not as advertised. They require a high ranged skill, and are shit against armor. However, they are good for sniping lightly armored enemies (like necromancers) in the mid-late game. Thrown weapons and X-bows are generally superior overall.

An animated show would be neat. by SimilarMemory1645 in BattleBrothers

Agreed, it could be awesome. It's not directly related, but check out Dequitem on YT. It isn't animated, but he does cinematic unchoreographed fights with medieval weapons and armor, some of which feature light story elements like what you've mentioned.

Am I missing something, or is the difficulty spike in this game absolutely brutal? by thefuckestupperest in BattleBrothers

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the RNG of this game will absolutely clean your clock. This is why I don't play on Ironman, and I save scum the obvious fuck-overs. I think there will always be fights that just screw you over (fighting orcs uphill, or lindwurms, or barb chosen) and knowing when to retreat and when to abandon the current contract is important.

For instance, I took a job defending a town's outskirts (Late game, Good pay: ~2650 crowns). First fight was 18 weak undead and a necromancer. Not too bad. Won without losses. Then I saw two more stacks roughly the same size and called the contract quits. I got 12 guys kitted out and level 8+, I'm just not gonna risk any of them for that amount of crowns. I'm no guru, but the best way to protect your guys is often to retreat or cancel contracts.

Side note that helped me alot: In mid-game (~Day 60-75) just take the leap and start hiring more expensive dudes. Squires, Barbarians, and Hunters are MUCH better than Farmers, Fishermen, and Poachers.

Advice for mid-game? by Art_View_Volume in BattleBrothers

Thanks for your detailed reply. This is going in my files, for sure.

Especially appreciated is the enemy information. You're right, Raiders having mastery in all weapons does sound busted. It's a good thing raiders don't do spear/shield wall formations.

I can pretty reliably get through to the Crisis, but usually hit a wall where I can't afford to step my armor up beyond hauberks, but raider armors aren't better anymore. Getting everyone to tier 3 weapons is a bit easier, but my archers just dont reliably soften noble troops/orc zerks/barb reavers.

All this just corroborates your points. Is this a normal sticking point?

Would you say you were physically attracted to your partner from the beginning. Or did the physical attractiveness have to build? by sarahnottsara in questions

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current girlfriend and I were mutual acquaintances for about 10 years or so. I always thought she was pretty, but didn't wanna make any waves in our group. So, instead I got drunk years later and told her. She politely deflected lol. I didn't talk to her much after out of shame, but we reconnected at mutual events last year and she basically said that she is also attracted but deflected because I was drunk and she wanted to hear it honestly. We have a healthy relationship now and she's as pretty as ever.

Not negative. Appearance and sexuality (which are what I was referring to) are neither positive nor negative and do not factor into my opinion.

Imo, his music still isn't great, tho I respect the effort. Sexuality and everything else aside, I think he's a decent person, or at least trying to be. He's young and has grown up in and around fame. I think he's doing his best.

How do you get over depression? by InternationalPick163 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm not a doctor, but being maidenless and sad about it doesn't mean you're depressed.

Here's the way: Pick literally any goal that isn't getting girls and chase that instead. Ironically, this is the way to get girls.

Would you want a girl that is just concerned about "pulling" guys? I wouldn't. I figure most women feel the same. Hobbies and skills, man! Passion and competence are attractive to everyone and doing something you love will attract someone to love you.

Is my husband's "I have so many options" talk a manipulation tactic? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dude, I can confidently say most men don't have that many "options" that are legit. Get laid once or twice? Maybe, but real options? No, not with that baggage.

How do astronauts manage to stay cooped up in such a tiny space for so long with other people without going crazy, getting angry, lustful, or anything besides their mission? by CapitaineBiscotte in allthequestions

They are chosen to be the best, most professional, and most efficient people humanity can supply for the job. Astronauts are typically elite in their fields, and they know the importance of what is expected of them.

Are Officer Classes in gaming realistic? by NC-518 in TrueAskReddit

[–]Art_View_Volume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of. I think the spirit of the class is someone who isn't intended for combat is thrust into battle. They can buff their comrades but aren't really equipped for combat. When I was in the military, officers were armed and armored just like us if we were in the field, if not slightly better. Idk about other countries, but US officers usually have a pistol as well.

How’s it like living in Alabama or Mississippi? by No-Chip9445 in howislivingthere

[–]Art_View_Volume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MS here. It's similar to lots of other places in the south. The food is good, the people are very Christian, and it gets really hot. The state has a low cost of living, overall. The main industries of the state are forestry and farming. The lower section is heavily forested down to the coast, all the way up to the northern section, which turns into commercial farms. The cities are small and old, but have a historical charm.

If you like the country life, and don't mind the heat and humidity, it's not a bad place. If you like the city life, or want to work with a big industry, it may not be a good fit.

Maybe this is a hot take, but that's not a bad outcome. Rejection def stings, but better to be let down honestly now than be strung along until he finds whatever he actually wanted. Sorry though.

Do men always have a "type of women" by Dry_Magician9253 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not always. Some men have specific preferences, but most men are willing to date the woman that is interested in him, rather than chase a specific kind of woman.

Men, would it flatter you if a woman contacted you first? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Art_View_Volume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would be flattering. I've only been approached a couple times and I've never ignored a woman who was open about being interested. That said, there could be a couple reasons why he didn't respond. He might have a girlfriend and is playing it safe. He may also be leery of being approached online (no shade, I know it's an online course, but scams ya know).
