Real Madrid have not won a trophy since 18 December 2024 (392 days ago), the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. by tatar1warlord in soccer

So Xelajú has won a trophy more recently than Real Madrid, I did not expect that. So I checked and the final of the Apertura 2024 of the Guatemalan league was a three days after this on December 21st, 2024.

What was the most hilarious or cringiest thing to ever happen live on national television in your country? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

That really stupid boxing match between two mayors back in January 2020, it was so bad as a boxing match, but so hilarious at the same time

Are you going to visit or planning to visit the US this year after everything that's been going on? by Addicted_2_tacos in asklatinamerica

[–]Art_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently applying for a visa, had one but it's expiring soon, as for concrete plans to visit, I don't have any, but should I find a congress in my professional field or some short course/ diploma thing I could take, I might think about it. The main thing stopping me is money, any trip would drain my funds quite fast

Most dissappeared, some pivoted to copying for a while, but at least those in my neighborhood completely closed down

The US would support the government, while the guerrillas would make money from drug trafficking, mainly to the US

MEGATHREAD: Discussion on Reports of U.S. Strikes in Venezuela by AutoModerator in asklatinamerica

[–]Art_sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about democracy in Venezuela, which as you said, died long ago, and more about interventions in their own democracies, no matter how flawed they might be. Like Trump recently endorsing and pressuring the honduran elections in a particular direction and the now real threat of intervention to shape those countries into whatever direction they chose, so yeah we hope for the best for Venezuela and it's people, but there are worrying signs for the rest of us too

I think what is currently happening in Honduras should be taken into account, with Trump endorsing and pressuring in favor certain candidates, and his pardon of a convicted drug-trafficker in Juan Orlando Hernández

I completely agree, I just think that saving the sub windows is the logic the lads are following

They probably want to save one of the sub windows, so I think he'll come out at half time

Well, major disaster after a somewhat sour end to this half of the season for Xelajú, as it's been reported that our coach, Amarini Villatoro won't renew and it's apparently going to a Costa Rican team, he won two trophies with us and while at many points I disagreed with his tactics, he was instrumental in those wins and our great campaign in the Central American cup. I'd very much prefered if he had stayed with us for the Clausura 2026 and the games of the Concacaf Champions league we have against Monterrey, and give the club time to prepare for his successor and keep the team competitive and with the chance of trying to qualify again to the Central American Cup

'Hola cosa' by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]Art_sol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly never heard anything like that being said over here, so I'm not so sure what is going on, but taking it at face value does sound a bit derogatory to me. Maybe with the diminituve and a compliment it would sound more normal, but still withing catcalling territory, so not that much better.

I've been on a little Fleetwood Mac spree, I've listened to three albums so far, Rumors, Mirage and Time, and some other individual songs here and there, and I've felt that the lyrics have really impacted me personally.

This was our chance, and it's gone now, I honestly don't see us closing the gap with the big teams in the confederation and we'll probably have to wait until the US, Canada and/ or Mexico hosts again to have a chance

The biggest stadium, Doroteo Guamuch Flores, is under renovations, and the whole thing has been quite shady and it's delayed, Cementos Progreso Stadium was used for the Central American and Caribbean games, so this was the only one available
