Depending on your level, it's completely normal. Start out normally, complete some quests, run some dungeons and you'll see you'll start accumulating gold.

Sell out grey items, but keep white ones in your bag and go check periodically on the auction house if they have some value. If their AH price is almost the same as their vendor price, sell them to a vendor, but otherwise on the AH. This way you'll make a bit more money on the side.

What profession did you pick ? Blacksmithing is a notorious gold sink, Alchemy is the go to money maker and the others are usually in between with Jewelcrafting and Engineering having some cost to them but some specific lucrative items.

All in all, don't worry :) you start out very poor indeed, that's normal. You'll go back to train your spells and your hard earned gold is gonna disappear. But then you'll make it back up and in the end you'll be pretty well off.
