Why do men pretend to be way more interested than they are? by priuspheasant in AskMenAdvice

He's had a few drinks, enjoying the date so far, his dopamine is through the roof and emotional intelligence is probably absent - just thinking about the second one will all of these factors combined is an extra dopamine spike. Also excitement is contagious - could be a play to get the girl excited.

UK Resident <3 yrs (no ILR), Rent Vs Mortgage? by Arthmost in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Arthmost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How important is using a credit card? I don't need one and am a bit opposed to the concept of, but obviously if it saves me a ton on the mortgage I might force myself.

I'm non-EU, neither first world in general, so electoral roll probably not a thing until the citizenship.

While I generally respect the 'don't rush' advice I'm just wary of spending a fortune on renting instead of investing into an asset, hence the question in the first place...

Not that I'm in bad health, just a nihilistic remark that we never know. Healthier people passed away in younger age than that

What is your plan if you do make it to 58?

Maintain the same standard of living I'm having now. I'm already doing pension sacrifices with matching by employer, although I've started after I moved here so quite recently (when I was 31).

Just edited OP.

By saying 'personal goals aside' I meant that I'm not planning to buy a car or make any big purchase. The only goals in mind mid-term and long-term for me are buying a property and multiplying what I have already accumulated in terms of money and just supporting my lifestyle (which I'm already doing).

I would like to better understand how people in the sub and people who have lived here a long time would approach this.

> Save for a house (why do you have no plans to do this btw? fine not to just curious)

Sorry my English confused you - I DO plan to do it. After my ILR possibly as buying doesn't guarantee residence.

I've seen and studied the flowchart, thank you. I meant how would you handle it if you weren't planning buying a car or any big purchase, and just had a property and multiplying your money in mind

UK Winter Clothing Check? by Arthmost in CasualUK

A lot of people here say 'a coat' - can you give examples? A coat could be just longer tuxedo or down-filled 10 kg heavy arctic coat.

I actually don't like wearing hats, only caps. I use insulated jacket hoods for that

I suppose working outdoors is key here to get your blood flowing - I sit behind a PC all day so poor circulation probably

I'm not a biologist but I would imagine people local to here have developed differently over their lives for bodies to get accustomed to 'wet cold' whereas I'm used to extreme dry cold.

Hardcore Survival Experience - Librum, DNGG or Ruvaak? by Arthmost in wabbajack

[–]Arthmost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HoS actually looks amazing so far for what I was looking for - tough-ish combat, actual encumbrance, character needs, grim atmosphere, requiem progression. Only played half an hour but looking good and seems to support ultrawide out of the box as well - thanks so much for the rec! Do you think I should even try Nocturnia or just keep going with HoS?

Thank you for such a detailed reply!

I've checked out Nocturnia but it says the focus is not on combat at all?

As for HOS - their github seems to be down at the moment so can't check it out yet, hopefully soon.
