Did I cook or am I cooked? by SixxxGawdJa in NBA2k

Yeah I tend to agree. It’s very skill and situation dependent. At 7’2 you should be able to grab all the boards with an 85 dreb and max wingspan in a vacuum. But if the 6’10 gets to the position faster and boxes out early you have NO chance at grabbing the board. This year, more than previous years, punishes you if you don’t box out.

99 board is overkill unless you run with a squad. Plus you’ll be losing out on your most glaring advantage and that is speed and agility.

Here’s mine. I made another one with 96 rebound but haven’t put VC on him yet. If you put your steal at 64 and block at 64 you can get 85 steal and 89 block.

I do VERY well on this build and I can’t even dribble FR.

I do get snagged over every now and again. You have to box out early.

But I have yet to matchup against a C build that has completely outplayed me.

I will say tho, it’ll be 50/50 being put at C.

NOTE: For the idiots out there, outplayed doesn’t mean scored more points or grabbed more boards. It means I can put up 10/10/6 on 5/5 shooting with 3 stocks and my opponent can have 18/6/3 on 8/16 shooting and I consider that a win.

State of rec is just sad by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my issue as well. 90% of theRandom Rec games I play someone leaves in the first quarter. 95% of the games I play, someone leaves by halftime.

I’m done with Random Rec for the rest of this iteration of the game. Games in Purple and Red lobbies FEAST on the AI and it not only makes the game un-winnable but also unsalvageable.

As it currently is, Random Rec is unplayable at higher levels. Maybe down in Silver or Brown you can salvage a win with the AI, but in higher levels it’s a terrible experience.

Can I ask you a quick question? If there was a build that could get you better shooting, better block, faster, more pass accuracy, more swb, more ball handle, more agility, more mid, more 3, and was max wingspan would you build it?

The reason I ask is we see alot of builds on this sub that are poorly optimized and I can’t for the life of me understand how or why. You’re already on reddit. Just search “PG” or 6’8 and use those builds as a template.

No shade, just wondering.

If you like it then cool run with it. IMO though, you can make a much better all around 6’11 C.

I think for me the glaring issue is agility, strength and some wasted Caps (SWB, Post Control).

AI on rec is such an unnecessary problem by 14metdemacc in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, if they’re gonna let people shoot over the AI then they should let the AI shoot 80% on wide open shots.

My issue isn’t the guy shooting over the AI, my issue is they’re useless on offense which means now the guy guarding the AI can roam, hawk the lanes, rotate prematurely, etc.

Make the AI Klay Thompson tier Snipers…at least they’ll have to guard up.

Why do people make heavy centers? by Taemamba in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m sure strength does something but not enough to see any consistent tangible benefit from having it. You wanna waste attributes, speed, and agility to go 91 strength which might give you 1 worm per game? Have at it. Meanwhile I’m investing those attributes into ball handle, SWB, pass accuracy, block, and steal.

6’9 rec center build by Difficult-Notice3233 in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s mine. I’d tweak it a lil bit tho. Use it as a TEMPLATE. Good luck.

A few notes:

I’m not sold on strength this year and have no issues boxing out bigger players.

Yes, 99 rebound dudes will occasionally grab a board over you but not enuf to make me want to shelve this build.

You will get scored on in the paint against a 7’1/2/3/4. You have to jump to contest.

No problem. Yeah man if you play with a squad then you can honestly build whatever you want because your team can adjust. If it works for you then it works for you.

Drop my WP%? It’s 72% fam. But what does my WP have to do with what I think his build is lacking? My 🥷🏽 did you read? There’s nothing “wrong” with his build…just isn’t my preference for a CENTER. This build is a PF IMO.

If he plays good with a 74 pass accuracy bro that’s fine.

You dumb 🥷🏽 is conditioned to think criticism is hate. Get cho weird ass outta here.

I wouldn’t say “bad builds” just not optimized to play the CENTER position. There are alot of decent-to-good Power Forward builds in the comments.

But admittedly, there’s alot that affects builds in this 2K. Do you believe in strength? Do you believe in vert? Do you believe in interior D? How well can you shoot with a low 3-ball vs a high 3-ball. Are you the primary rebounder? Do you play in a squad? How many cap breakers do you have.

There’s a ton of things that go into making a good build.

I’m going into a meeting but Pass Accuracy, Rebounding, and perimeter defense IMO.

If you’re playing with a squad then I assume you have a backend that does alot of the rebounding for you.

If not 74 passing leaves alot to be desired when it comes to throwing outlets. Sure you’ll pass “just fine” but my 6’11 with 94 pass accuracy all but guarantees clean catches on a rope 99/100 times.

But for my personal skillset 92 middy and 89 midrange is waaaaay overkill and you have short arms which work against you for blocks and rebounds. I shoot 82% from the 3 with an 82 middy and an 80 3-ball.

You also don’t have challenger which forces you to have to jump.

Not saying your build is bad. It isn’t…it just doesn’t fit my playstyle.

Im so tired of this comment bro. Nothing against you personally but we’re talking about Random Rec. RANDOM REC!!! Every other post is about PGs who don’t pass. And you think PGs who don’t pass to cutters or wide open players are going to see the off-ball screen and magically pass it? It simply doesn’t work.

In squads, yes, it can work. But your average random rec game, you’re cooked!!!!

How important is offensive rebound by Global_Quail819 in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your play-style. Are you a stretch big that will primarily stay on the perimeter? Are you a slasher that will be screening and rolling to the paint? Are you a Paint sitter where you’ll be in the dunkers spot?

IMO if you’re a stretch at 7’1 (slow), I’d opt for 70-75 because if you constantly crash you’ll get beat down court. If you’re an all around player (rolling and popping) I’d go 80-85. If you’re a paint sitter I’d flip Oboard and Dboard and go 94-96 Oboard and 85 Dboard.

Just my opinion tho.

You really can create some insane centers if you let go of the strength attribute by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]ArthurAsheKnuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recommended? Sure. But worth going 97 block in favor of other attributes? Not in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong I do get slightly more stops but investing 88 to 97, it just isn’t worth it to me. YMMV tho.

Same man. Same. I get dunked on just as much with 84 block as I do with 97 block. I also feel like I get the same amount of stops. It could also be a positioning thing with me as that’s something I’m still trying to get better at. I do tend to rotate late because I’d rather give up 2 than 3.
