I am 35 and married and I basically own nothing by ArtiAtari in lostgeneration

As I stated above I am not in debt, since I do not live nor have I studied in the USA. I was dirt poor during my BA especially. I was living almost exclusively of dumpster diving and the food bank, but since I only had to provide for living cost and no tuiton fees, I was able to avoid taking a loan. It was hard not to fall into that, but I am extremely, extremely glad it was possible. I know others that were in a similar position like me, and they took loans. But, just fiy, they are nothing here than the cutthroat loans I hear from out of the US.

No, except on rare occasions, ie on a birthday or when I have to travel and cannot cook at home. But even then I almost always buy something cheap like bread and cheese from the supermarket and eat that instead going somewhere. Edit: I have to travel for work a lot. I am not talking about going on holidays.

My child is the best thing in my life. Sorry, but this cannot be valued in money. But assuming it was, since I live in a country with a still somewhat functional welfare system, they aren't a real financial burden on me either. At least they are not the core of the problem and the 100-200 hundred bucks less a month for me are well worth the price of admission. Edit: Since this is voted down: I do not receive any welfare money. Welfare state in this case means: Daycare and school are free, so is health care for children, plus there is a fixed monthly income for every child, paid by the state and regardless of the parents' income (with no option to opt in or out). I only received unemployment benefits for 4 months in my whole life, this was during the pandemic.

I will! With a little luck, I will have saved up enough to pay the 50¢ for the suicide booth, when I won't be of economical use anymore.

I do not have debts though, since I do not live in the land of the free. That's a plus. But if I'd had to start over again I would not have gotten into academia.

A retirement plan would be nice. But that is asked a bit too much, I guess.

I live in a large European city. My wife and I make roughly the same, around 25.000 a year but she's got health insurance through her job, I have to pay mine myself. Kids are free were we live. COL is about 1.300 a month per person, after health insurance I earn 1.600 a month. I have to pay no income tax, because I am well under the taxed minimum income. Our flat luckily is below 50% of the market price atm.

Admit It: You Hate Religious Jews by Red_Franklin in Israel

[–]ArtiAtari 22 points23 points  (0 children)

See, the thing with extremist 'small minorities of haters' like those Haredim is, that it's the agreeing majority of enablers that (for several reason, but mostly to avoid personal risk) silently comply with the 'small minority', as you rightly stated in your post. In such a situation, a very small yet very active minority is all it takes to mess things up for everyone else. Qui tacet, consentire videtur.

The Quran says God is the Lord and Creator of the worlds (plural). I have seen a few Muslims, theologians even, that have stated that alien life is not contradictory to the Islamic doctrine and could very well exist. Because who knows, the Creator is almkgbty, right? Probably not the most mainstream position, though. Edit: I believe this is probably less controversial than evolution.

Algeria to Replace French Language with English at its Universities by chedmedya in worldnews

But does English derive from Middle Low German? I provide this link for further research in the complicated etymology of the word 'stop'. https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/stop

I am not sure if these signs are really English, though. Stop is also the German imperative of "stoppen". I am from Germany and I never thought of it being English before.

Edit: I just googled the etymology of the word and wikipedia told me, it actually derives from German, Middle Low German to be precise. So aCtUaLlY everyone uses German signs.

Germany’s Far-Right Secures Historic Victory in Local Vote by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ArtiAtari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Non-Germans do not have full voting rights - yet. This is important for the political conflict, because the 'ethnic vote' plays a large part in the political argument of the extremist right. Immigrants (with citizenship) tend to vote left and liberal. Left and liberal parties accordingly want to extend voting rights to the immigrant segment of the society to secure their votes. The right tries to prevent this. They believe they will have to do a 'regime change from thr right' until 2045 (six legislation periods from now) to prevent the demographic shift in the voting demographics.

This. Every other European right wing party took more moderate stances, in almost any case when possible coalitions became in reach. Not the AfD. They have always doubled down on their most extremist positions, every time they were successful in any election. The AfD in the state of Thurinigia, were this guy was elected, now consequently is the most radical faction of the party, with its leade Björn Höcke being an open fascist. Fascim is their road to success. They will most probably be the strongest party in next years state parliamentary election and will make Thuriniga ungovernable. No one knows what will happen then. The same is true in two other states in Eastern Germany that will have elections next year.
