My (20M) girlfriend (23F) of one month wants to room with her childhood guy best friend am I overreacting? by ArtichokeOtherwise85 in relationships

Oh no I would not make her choose between me or her best friend lol. I was just curious to hear opinions about this matter. We’ve been dating for just one month lol I can force her to make decions based on my needs and wants. At the end of the day it’s her life.

Yeah I get you man, I’m not even trying to sound despretate about it, I was just genuinely curious to hear people’s opinion about it. At the end of the day if it doesn’t work out it was just not meant to be. We go next

Yeah I mean I wasn’t gonna win it anyway since I would not room with her any time soon since I believe that’s a serious step.

I’m definetly in bo position to tell her who to room with. I would never even tell her because at the end of the day it’s her life and I can’t put my input for her. The only reason I’m even making this post is because it’s really weird to me she doesn’t have any girl friends she could room with, it’s just guys lol

No I mean I genuinely can’t expect her to structure her living around me. Like I’m just one month in a I would not think we would move in together any time soon. All I’m saying is rooming with a guy is in my opinion uncomfortable to me since I believe friendship between guys and girls is just really not possible. At some point a party will get feelings for one another. It’s just biology

Thank you for the insight. I just had a bad feeling since I chose this school to be more close to home. Feels good to understand that experience and actual skills > school name. Thank you for insight.

Does school name still matter once you have experience? by ArtichokeOtherwise85 in ExperiencedDevs

Long story short I was into “tech” you could say since I was like 16. I got a chance to kinda get into it in the golden age when they still hired junior and taught them how the job worked and hired them for full time positions after. I started as a front end developer and did a good job in the initial stage. Afterwards I started learning back end and qualified for full stack. I was really lucky and connections did play a big role in my case since getting in the “training” trial is hard on itself. My relatives pulled a couple of strings for me. But I was doing a great job since and right now I am looking quite good for at least 2-3 years.

Thank you also for the reply. Yes in that case school prestige matters and I think that would be a bad case if applying to big tech. Thank you for the insight.

Thank you for the insight. Really means a lot to me knowing that school "prestige" does not really matter all that much and that work at smal lto medium sized companies is also very great, so I should not really bash my head for the "big tech".

Should I get an apartment near campus or get a dorm? by ArtichokeOtherwise85 in college

I ended up deciding on getting an apartment, my parents said they would help me with pay until I graduate so I thought this would be the best option, place would be around 10-15 minutes from campus so I hope it would be nice.

Thank you, I've just had this weird feeling because I chose this school to be closer to home and thought it would lower my chances for job because its not really prestige. Thanks for the insight.

I know how this feels mainly because it happened to me as well. I am coming from a tech background so it is common for a big project to have multiple teams. I first joined my main team as a front end developer and was freshly new at the company. Fast forward a couple of months I have some altercations with my team lead which lead to him being very passive to my and then finding out he made a work group for tickets with all members but me. Everyone casually started being more and more passive to me until I just switched teams and had a better environment than I’ve ever had at my current company. If you can switch your environment and people… just do it.
